Leisha Hailey

Highest Rated: 87% All Over Me (1996)

Lowest Rated: 69% Dead Ant (2017)

Birthday: Jul 11, 1971

Birthplace: Okinawa, Japan

Leisha Hailey formed a pop duo called The Murmurs with Heather Grody in 1991, and the team released several albums throughout the decade and played at Lilith Fair. Though she was devoted to her music, Hailey had always wanted to be an actress, and she played a would-be musician on an episode of the show "Boy Meets World" before performing on the big screen in the 1997 coming-of-age drama "All Over Me." Set in New York's City's "riot grrrl" punk-music scene, the gritty film followed a teenage girl who discovers her lesbian identity. Also in 1997, Hailey was on an episode of the television sitcom "Ellen," and the openly lesbian actress finally landed a really plum role when she joined the cast of Showtime's "The L Word" as bisexual journalist Alice Pieszecki, playing opposite Jennifer Beals and Pam Grier. Hailey has stayed loyal to music, too, and co-wrote the hit Shakira song "Don't Bother" in 2007 for the album "Oral Fixation Vol. 2."
