RICHARD S Great cast and production values. Esther swims only a few seconds in a rural pond. Montalban, at his most youthful and physical best, bull fights, dances (with Cyd Charisse) and actually plays piano expertly to the brilliant Aaron Copeland score. Overall, a very engrossing film without the spectacular water ballets you would normally expect. Montalban's earliest work for MGM, promises a better career than MGM allowed. And where else can you get a glimpse of Esther performing as a matador? Pretty good stuff! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/19/25 Full Review Steve D Painfully overdone with terrible music. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review ashley h Fiesta is a decent film. It is about a matador who leaves town to focus on his music and his twin sister takes his place. Esther Williams and Ricardo Montalban give good performances. The script is a little slow in places. Richard Thorpe did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of drama and romance. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie my favorite Esther Williams movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/22 Full Review Audience Member Another in the Esther Williams catalog. Fiesta is Ricardo Montalban's film debut! Esther and Ricardo portray Maria and Mario, the twin children of a famous matador. Maria wants to bullfight, Mario is expected to, but his passion is music. Maria masquerading as Mario fights in the arena. Eventually her father figures it all out and Mario follows his passion for music. The movie also features Cyd Charisse and the song La Bamba, later famously associated with Ritchie Valens. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Obviously, this was a vehicle for Ricardo Montalban, who is excellent. Williams, who looks beautiful and as always makes the most of every scene she is in, barely has a supporting role, Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
