Maggie Lee Variety Although the film wears its utopian ideals on its sleeve, helmer Nitin Kakkar leavens the political content with an absurdist sense of humor and a heartwarming turn of events Dec 11, 2017 Full Review Anupama Chopra Hindustan Times Filmistaan is a delightful film. It has heart, imagination and intelligence. It is a celebration of our enduring love affair with Hindi cinema. And it is a touching exploration of the shared humanity between Indians and Pakistanis. Rated: 4/5 Dec 11, 2017 Full Review Ben Kenigsberg New York Times "Filmistaan" gradually morphs into a serious disquisition on Indo-Pakistani relations and the lingering animus from the nations' 1947 partition. Jun 5, 2014 Full Review Shubha Shetty-Saha Scroll.in A story with great potential, it could have been better. But watch it anyway because its simplicity is beautiful. Dec 11, 2017 Full Review Devesh Sharma Filmfare It's seldom that we make introspective films laced with dark humour. It's great to find such superlative effort from first time filmmaker. Dec 11, 2017 Full Review Madhureeta Mukherjee The Times of India The camaraderie between the pure souls who understand only the language of Bollywood is heart-warming. Datt, with few dialogues, is deadly. Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 11, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member 'Filmistaan' would have been a perfectly delightful and subtly entertaining indie. And Sharib Hashmi, Inaamulqah are talented enough to make the film a very funny, sweet and tactful one. Had the storytelling by Nitin Kakkar been precise, this could have been a personal journey to savor. Bur largely he gets the skill unnoticed and pleasures drown into indulgences. A generous three stars. It's a thoughtful story and a funny film, but it could have been just so much more! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautiful little gem of a film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Day: Wednesday Date: 17 Dec 2014 Time: - With: Noone On: Air India Flight to Mumbai Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A well-made movie on a completely new theme and extremely innovative backdrop. The issues raised are obviously not new - the struggles of common men in hatred spawned by powerful (in this case the gun-totting) people with own agenda. The treatment - with the connection to Bollywood - is heart-warming. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member A treat for those who are totally fade up with Bollywood commercial cinema. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member An honest attempt to portray reactions of a Bollywood lover to difficult situations. A nice entertaining watch.
