Find Your Friends mistakes excess and shock for thematic depth, collapsing an intriguing psychological premise into a meandering, emotionally disconnected slog.

There’s respect to be had for films that take big swings, potentially even risking offense to deliver their thesis with gusto, but 'Find Your Friends' is a sloppy, party porn massacre of themes. Even in the sinew, I struggle to find the point. Go to Full Review

Ultimately the destination taken—no matter how slick and impressive the editing may be—winds up making us feel disconnected from it all. Go to Full Review

[All horror is] undercut by a terrible line or a gormless visual choice, and the unfortunate overall impression is akin to someone trying to tell you their mom is dying as their pants keep falling down. Go to Full Review

I hated every character in this movie and didn’t really care about any of them. Go to Full Review

Driven by Helena Howard's excellent performance, Find Your Friends is an effective thriller that makes you question the sanity of its main character. At the same time, it zeroes in on the dangers women face in everyday life. Go to Full Review

Ace N @nennykeo 26m The film captures that feeling of realizing you're in a situation that's slowly slipping out of your control. Every bad decision makes the next one worse, and the tension keeps building until everything explodes. The final twenty minutes are incredibly satisfying, and the cast sells every emotional beat. One of my favorite indie thrillers in recent memory. See more Kelly H @khenanderez 32m What surprised me most was how invested I became in the friendships. The thriller elements work because the characters actually matter, and the emotional conflicts are just as engaging as the physical danger they're facing. The cinematography is gorgeous, the pacing rarely drags, and the ending delivers exactly the kind of payoff I was hoping for. A very solid independent feature. See more Bree Q @breeqnatoo 34m One thing I appreciated was that the movie never felt overly polished. It has a raw energy that fits the story perfectly. The conversations between the friends feel natural, the conflicts build organically, and when violence finally erupts, it feels earned rather than forced. It's the kind of indie thriller that sticks in your head after the credits See more Cynthia R @cynthiarojas 38m The soundtrack deserves almost as much praise as the cast. Every song choice seemed to amplify the anxiety on screen, making scenes feel even more chaotic and unpredictable. I also loved how beautiful Joshua Tree looked while simultaneously feeling so isolated and threatening. Stylish, intense, and surprisingly emotional. See more Damien G @damiengainess 39m Okay loo, yes isn't a nonstop horror movie, and I think that's where some people may be divided. It's much more interested in the relationships between the friends than constant scares. Once everything falls apart, though, the tension really kicks in. I appreciated that the characters weren't perfect people—they felt messy and real. Worth watching if you enjoy slower thrillers with a strong payoff. See more Danni M @danniiii 43m Seriously wasn't sure what to expect going in, but this ended up being a surprisingly tense ride. What starts as a reckless girls' trip slowly turns into something much darker, and the film keeps escalating without losing sight of the characters. The performances felt believable, the desert setting added a lot to the atmosphere, and the final act definitely sticks with you. A few rough edges, but an impressive debut. See more Read all reviews
