Audience Member A Man arises from the sea and becomes the next Messiah, performing miracles and gathering a cult following,Marins directs and stars in this unusual little film,it entertains and certainly is different,a good film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member The only difference between Finis Hominis and Coffin Joe is their respective choice of headgear: F.H. dumps the cape and top hat, opting for a swishy turban. That, and "the last man" doesn't torture or murder, he's too Messianic for those things. Reminiscent of Pasolini's "Gospel According to St. Matthew" on a bad acid trip. Lack of surreal torment, combined with a surfeit of dreary B&W photography makes for a boring experience, amplified by Jose Mojica Marins' inept pacing, editing, shot compositions, what have you. Boring, pretentious Jesus allegory, with the clumsy insertions of library music, as well as familiar pop tunes, being the sole entertainment to be found. A curio for Coffin Joe completists only.
