      Critics Consensus

Despite the talent on board, Fire Birds is little more than a subpar military adventure sporting video game-like action, outdated philosophy, and uneven acting.

Adhi P The film was made a year too early. It would've been a so much better AH-64 Apache movie if it was set on 1991 Gulf War. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/26/24 Full Review J. B Such a fun film! Nicolas Cage out acting the rest of the cast and script as usual to provide high octane, high flying fun! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/26/23 Full Review Michael W This war movie was pretty good. Nicolas Cage, Tommy Lee Jones, Sean Young, Dale Dye, and the rest of the cast did a pretty good job in this movie. The plot of the movie was action-packed, a little dramatic, and kind of entertaining. It's about fighting under pressure and overcoming it defeat the enemy. If you haven't seen this movie yet, you might enjoy it. That's my opinion. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review Steve D Aircrafts go pew pew. End of story. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member A cheap top gun knock off with helicopters instead of jets...had some OK moments but poor aerial fight scenes and a wooden performance from Nic Cage means this one won't live long in the memory Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is great despite of what other shitty comment Fuck outta here with the bull shit It deserves to thumbs up Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

John Hartl Seattle Times If you think of movies as big-screen video games, see Fire Birds. If not, you may want to skip this Top Gun with copters and cartels. Rated: 1/4 May 28, 2013 Full Review Desmond Ryan Philadelphia Inquirer David Green structures the film in the mold of the time-honored boys-into- men military exercise, but don't go looking for The Sands of Iwo Jima. Rated: 1/4 May 28, 2013 Full Review Michael Wilmington Los Angeles Times Lean, mean, clean and empty-hearted, Fire Birds is a video-game recruiting poster with a bomb ticking inside--a bomb that never goes off. Rated: 1.5/5 May 28, 2013 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) Fire Birds gives the constant impression of having been seen before. [Full review in Spanish] Oct 28, 2022 Full Review Gary Thompson Philadelphia Daily News It seems to have been written by some studio hack screenwriter, isolated from the world since 1941 in some forgotten movie studio storage room stocked with Spam, Lucky Strikes and a copy of the Monroe Doctrine. Rated: 0/4 May 28, 2013 Full Review Roger Hurlburt South Florida Sun-Sentinel It may not be as glossy as Top Gun, but Fire Birds is still an above average B movie.
