Critics Consensus

Despite the talent on board, Fire Birds is little more than a subpar military adventure sporting video game-like action, outdated philosophy, and uneven acting.

John Hartl Seattle Times If you think of movies as big-screen video games, see Fire Birds. If not, you may want to skip this Top Gun with copters and cartels. Rated: 1/4 May 28, 2013 Full Review Desmond Ryan Philadelphia Inquirer David Green structures the film in the mold of the time-honored boys-into- men military exercise, but don't go looking for The Sands of Iwo Jima. Rated: 1/4 May 28, 2013 Full Review Michael Wilmington Los Angeles Times Lean, mean, clean and empty-hearted, Fire Birds is a video-game recruiting poster with a bomb ticking inside--a bomb that never goes off. Rated: 1.5/5 May 28, 2013 Full Review Philip French Observer (UK) I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear that the same production team is planning a military horse opera about kicking Iraqi ass to be called "Gulf and Western." Dec 13, 2024 Full Review Madeleine Harmsworth Sunday Mirror (UK) A ludicrously jingoistic showcase for the U.S. Army's million-dollar Apache attack helicopter. Rated: 2/5 Dec 13, 2024 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) Fire Birds gives the constant impression of having been seen before. Adhi P The film was made a year too early. It would've been a so much better AH-64 Apache movie if it was set on 1991 Gulf War. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/26/24 Full Review J. B Such a fun film! Nicolas Cage out acting the rest of the cast and script as usual to provide high octane, high flying fun! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/26/23 Full Review Michael W This war movie was pretty good. Nicolas Cage, Tommy Lee Jones, Sean Young, Dale Dye, and the rest of the cast did a pretty good job in this movie. The plot of the movie was action-packed, a little dramatic, and kind of entertaining. It's about fighting under pressure and overcoming it defeat the enemy. If you haven't seen this movie yet, you might enjoy it. That's my opinion. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review Steve D Aircrafts go pew pew. End of story.
