Audience Member year is wrong on this early jackie chan vehicle Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review dave j Thursday, June 14, 2012 (1994) Fire Dragon (In Chinese with English subtitles) ACTION/ HISTORICAL FICTION Directed by Yuen Woo-Ping using simplistic Chinese folklore tale centering on a letter sought by an evil prince with complete corruption on his mind using biological martial art sisters to go after it, even if it meant killing innocent civilians to do it. Hong Kong veteran actress Brigitte Lin(Police Story) as Fire Dragon poses as an innocent bystander to whom Yuen Ming (Mok Siu Chung) is still suspicious about. Fire Dragon eventually changes after building a rapport with it's normal travelling performers. Idea is similar to Jet Li's "Swordsman II" which also stars Brigitte Lin except this one has more action and ridiculous comedy! All of the martial art action which is mostly use of wire -fu some has been sped up but gets entertaining as it becomes more of it. The rating is strictly for the action and not the comedy aspect of it. 3 out of 4 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member An interesting wuxia both for style and for story: the frantic action (even more than usual!) is paired with a plot tailored around female figures, in a sometimes comedic, sometimes tragic celebration of unconsumated love and the violent nature of sexes relationship, unbalancing the camera around The flying swordsggals; as an added bonus, Fire Palm tecnique makes everything explodes, and the final battle is fought with dynamite... A really strong kungfu, admittedly. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member An excellent period piece due to the compelling plot. Brigitte Lin plays Fire Dragon, a powerful fire wielding assassin. Her allegiance to an evil Prince begins to waver when she goes undercover to retrieve a letter that could incriminate the prince. Filmed with style and sweeping camera shots, the movie has great camera work. It flow nicely and allows Woo Ping Yuen's choreographed fights to breathe. The characters are all developed nicely and each has their own motivation. By the time the development is finished, the stakes are pushed to the limit with a fantastic fiery and frantic three way sword fight in a field. The field is full of giant wine jars, and it makes for literally an explosive climax. A must see for any weapon wielding fight scene fanatics. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Oh man it was hilarious, but I did not really like how they decided to speed up already really fast kung fu sequences. I just thought it really took away from them. But the comedic bits were actually super hilarious and I enjoyed it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
