Mr. Hollywood Good documentaries show us and we decide what we take from it. Both the subjects of this documentary and the filmmakers of this film understand that and it made this film the better for it. The subjects did what they wanted and chased what they felt they had to in life, they lived life on their own terms and it made watching them uplifting and emotional. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/23/23 Full Review joe r Painful at times gets better as movie progresses but for a large portion it does not make u care much about the characters not sure it warranted a movie Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/28/22 Full Review Aaron J Terrific doc, allowed me to see things I'd never before seen and to reminisce concerning my own experiences with volcanoes and related volcanic activity. Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald The droning narration nearly killed the film for me but others might like it. The images are spectacular, sublime, astonishing and terrifying, and they raise meaty questions. Rated: 3/5 Aug 25, 2022 Full Review Adam Kempenaar Filmspotting ...has that same sense of playfulness but also wants to explore [Katia and Maurice's] obsession, their willingness to face danger. Rated: 4/5 Aug 12, 2022 Full Review Kathleen Sachs Chicago Reader It succeeds in highlighting this tenet of their work, making it a valuable introduction not just to their unique lives and groundbreaking studies, but also to their own singular artistry. Aug 1, 2022 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) Captures both the unique personalities at its center and the way that passion — for a person or for your work — can easily consume you if you let it. Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Tina Kakadelis Beyond the Cinerama Dome Fire of Love is born out of passion. The film’s narration is romantic, merely a reflection of the awe Maurice and Katia have for volcanoes. It’s a love that can be understood by anyone who loves something unbridled adoration. Jul 24, 2023 Full Review A.S. Hamrah The Baffler The Kraffts brought savoir faire to that most philosophical and visually impressive of science experiments, the leap into the volcano against a backdrop of molten orange.
