Fire of Love tells the story of two French lovers, Katia and Maurice Krafft, who died in a volcanic explosion doing the very thing that brought them together: unraveling the mysteries of our planet, while simultaneously capturing the most explosive volcano imagery ever recorded. Along the way, they changed our understanding of the natural world, and saved tens of thousands of lives. Previously unseen hours of pristine 16-millimeter film and thousands of photographs reveal the birth of modern volcanology through an unlikely lens -- the love of its two pioneers.

Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald The droning narration nearly killed the film for me but others might like it. The images are spectacular, sublime, astonishing and terrifying, and they raise meaty questions. Rated: 3/5 Aug 25, 2022 Full Review Adam Kempenaar Filmspotting ...has that same sense of playfulness but also wants to explore [Katia and Maurice's] obsession, their willingness to face danger. Rated: 4/5 Aug 12, 2022 Full Review Kathleen Sachs Chicago Reader It succeeds in highlighting this tenet of their work, making it a valuable introduction not just to their unique lives and groundbreaking studies, but also to their own singular artistry. Aug 1, 2022 Full Review Hector A. Gonzalez The Movie Buff There are no words other than fascinating, beautiful, and entrancing to describe Sara Dosa’s documentary about Katia and Maurice Krafft. Rated: B+ Sep 8, 2024 Full Review James Berardinelli ReelViews It is worth seeing primarily if The Fire Within is unavailable and/or as a lesser companion piece to Herzog’s masterful approach to the same basic story. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 16, 2024 Full Review Daniel Allen Loud and Clear Reviews Dosa focuses on this sense of dual devotion – not just the devotion between Katia and Maurice but also their joint devotion to volcanology. It is the documentary’s most intriguing theme, and it helps to elevate Fire of Love Rated: 4.5/5 Jul 25, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Mr. Hollywood Good documentaries show us and we decide what we take from it. Both the subjects of this documentary and the filmmakers of this film understand that and it made this film the better for it. The subjects did what they wanted and chased what they felt they had to in life, they lived life on their own terms and it made watching them uplifting and emotional. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/23/23 Full Review joe r Painful at times gets better as movie progresses but for a large portion it does not make u care much about the characters not sure it warranted a movie Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/28/22 Full Review Aaron J Terrific doc, allowed me to see things I'd never before seen and to reminisce concerning my own experiences with volcanoes and related volcanic activity.
