Linda Barnard Toronto Star Cree/Mtis writer-director Adam Garnet Jones has crafted a personal story with a strong aboriginal cast. Rated: 2.5/4 May 13, 2016 Full Review Geoff Pevere Globe and Mail Jones's Fire Song lays a heavy weight of despair on its thin frame, and the pressure bears down most heavily on his non-professional cast. Rated: 2/4 May 13, 2016 Full Review Joe Lipsett Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr Podcast A difficult depiction of the contemporary Canadian Indigenous experience, filled with too brief, fleeting moments of joy and resistance. Jennifer Podemski elevates every scene she's in. Rated: 3/5 Jul 6, 2021 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie Garnet Jones prefers to watch how everyone works within their constraints on a day-to-day basis, and by doing so, he heightens the drama while making his characters all the more natural and well-rounded. May 31, 2019 Full Review Alexander Ryll Gay Essential The gloomy mood is wonderfully portrayed with Garnett Jones's selection of shots of the desolate plains of Northern Ontario. The colour palette of dark greys and greens reaffirms the emotional state of the main characters. Rated: 6 Nov 3, 2018 Full Review Willow Maclay Seventh Row It's confident, fresh cinema that rarely falters. Jul 20, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member La historia tiene mas relevancia por los otros problemas sociales y no el principal. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Somber and affecting, Fire Song is at times shotty with some of its acting, but ultimately succeeds in being a resonant story that tackles multiple difficult themes. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Fire Song is a beautifully crafted film that gives us a perspective of those who are all too often ignored and overlooked. Director Adam Garnet Jones doesn't shy away from any of the difficulties faced by Canada's aboriginal youth, meeting their struggles head on. The result is a deeply resonant and emotional film that sticks with you long after the credits have rolled. There are a few moments where Fire Song gets caught up in its own melodrama, and at times the lack of experience from the actors is painfully obvious, but none of this takes away from the power of the film.
