What to Know

Critics Consensus

Much like the cosmic debris it investigates, Fireball: Visitors from Darker Worlds is made up of heavy stuff -- but it lights up the screen thanks to Werner Herzog's infectious awe.

Alexandra Heller-Nicholas ABC Radio (Australia) Fireball: Visitors from Darker Worlds is an absorbing look into how this cosmic phenomenon has inspired human civilisation itself. Rated: 4/5 Nov 18, 2020 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com A film that can be a bit dry when Oppenheimer leads the scientific discussion but that springs back to life when Herzog the filmmaker allows his awe to come through the camera. Andrés T If I could give it zero stars I would, this documentary is awful, there is nothing professional or serious about this work, it seems like they brought the producer of Carpool Karaoke to make a documentary, the comments they make are unnecessary, scientists who don't look like scientists, everything looks very fake and forced, Chicxulub is not a hotel complex, Amanda Miguel? Really? As a soundtrack? This documentary is a joke. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/16/24 Full Review spencer p While it travels intriguing social-scientific ground, Werner Herzog's methodical approach to it doesn't make it stick to my mind. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A trascendental work of art... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review raphael g Good stuff! Herzog is always so enthusiastic. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm not sure why people have rated this poorly. This was a beautiful piece of film, full of interesting landscapes, quirky real-life people, and just enough editing and sound to creat a sense of wonderment that is difficult to find these days. I've already watched it twice. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member The content was disjointed and often irrelevant. With personal commentary of the director who is often racist and culturally insensitive to the people's and places they travel to. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews
