Johnny Cobb (James Stewart) is the part-time sheriff in a small, rundown town, trying to stretch his meager salary to provide for his growing family. Poor Cobb isn't much of a gunman, and he isn't particularly suited for fighting, but he's the man in charge when a gang of bandits led by Bob Larkin (Henry Fonda) rides into town. Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The Jimmy Stewart hero usually isn't very happy with his job. He doesn't go around sticking his neck out. He's no John Wayne type. But finally he gets pushed beyond the breaking point and Wayne hath no fury like a Stewart scorned. Rated: 3/4 Jul 29, 2006 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com A mediocre Western, elevated by the star power of Henry Fonda (as the villain) and Jimmy Stewart Rated: C+ May 4, 2011 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews It's a B-western passed off as an A-western. It pushes all the right buttons, anchored by good performances by veterans James Stewart and Henry Fonda. Both characters contrasted as they re-examine their lives, whether Fonda can go back to his old flame, and can Stewart find the guts to stand up for true frontier justice?
