Scott Cain Atlanta Journal-Constitution Director-star Clint Eastwood trots out a spy thriller of such complexity that even Five Fingers suddenly seems simplistic. But Clint is a fine storyteller and Firefox makes sense, if you pay attention. Rated: 3/5 Nov 9, 2021 Full Review Bruce McCabe Boston Globe Clint Eastwood's failure to realize his material makes Firefox more sluggish and phlegmatic than it should be. Apr 27, 2018 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Firefox is a slick, muscular thriller that combines espionage with science fiction. The movie works like a well-crafted machine, and it's about a well-crafted machine. Rated: 3.5/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com '...(Firefox is ) literally a fun vehicle for a huge box-office star...' Rated: 3/5 Aug 18, 2023 Full Review Peter Stack San Francisco Examiner Eastwood looks like an automated totem pole, the Russians are portrayed as the Three Stooges, and there's more drama, tension and action in a spoonful of cottage cheese than in this painfully drawn-out affair. Rated: 1/4 Nov 11, 2021 Full Review Michael Ventura L.A. Weekly It feels as though Eastwood the director and producer was trying to stretch himself here, technically, and got caught up in the exercise, forgetting the movie. Blu B It makes sense, it's Pre-Top Gun stuff, and the end flight escape is alright and probably the best part of this bt is it worth sitting through the 90 minutes it takes of a slog to get there? Honestly...No in my opinion. Nothing here as a whole isn't that good even when taking into account the all right final 30 minutes. The cinematography is somehow not that good. the direction feel uninspired and half the time it's so dark you can barely see it. the flying special effects look alright enough and may have been cooler when it came out but they defintely look dated. There really isn't any character to anyone in this. Eastwoods PTSD is like the closest thing and it never really comes into the story in any important way. The biggest problem is there is TONS of long plot expose scenes that go like 5-10 minutes and they just explain everything and it's SOOOOOOOOOO boring and easily the worst parts of this. And there is quite a few. Than the ending overcorrects with barely any dialouge with the flying escape. This needed to shave off like 30 minutes probably of runtime. Half from the chase which drags and the other half from the dragged out journey/infiltration. The music also is so boring, barely used and when it is it puts me to sleep at times. This feels like a cold war thriller mixed with a Top Gun popcorn style movie and it just doesn't work that well together. This has no tension at all. Just boredom, procedures, expose, and dated flying effects with characters that are super forgettable. Also Eastwood disguised as a Soviet General is a eye sore a little bit but it's not that long. This just needed to stop explaining sooo much, give more character, turn on a damn light, and cut the runtime and it probably would've had a chance even with the dated effects. Skip This and watch Top Gun or even better the sequel. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/22/24 Full Review Robert A Amazing film, I cannot believe how low a score it has on here. Cold War, espionage, cool fighter planes and Clint Eastwood. What more could you want! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/03/24 Full Review Jelisije J An absolute great cold war thriller starring Clint Eastwood....Underrated gem of a film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/24 Full Review Nol P "Super Easy Short Edition" movie reviews... Firefox... Clint Eastwood flying an advanced Russian fighter jet, 5 out of 10 at best as his supporting cast was quite weak. The concept was there and I bet the book was great but the movie overall and the special effects were weak. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/16/24 Full Review Eye C The problem with the MacGuffins is that if you based the hole movie about it, you got to show it, and in this case I think it gets too late when it does, and if this is what they was going for, because it's not clear either. The movie is boring and with very bad VFX. I think Mr. Eastwood got to let go the spies movies, it doesn't fit for that kind of stories. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/23 Full Review Christina J Painfully slow had 2 moments at most that were better than watching paint dry. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
