Petty thieves Durell (Ice Cube) and LeeJohn (Tracy Morgan) face a big problem: The two must come up with $17,000 in one week, or Durell will no longer be able to see his son. The goofy scoundrels embark on a haphazard plan to rob the neighborhood church, but they find the mission trickier than expected. Alonso Duralde MSNBC The missing-church-funds subplot will be easily figured out by any four year old, but it winds up being a McGuffin anyway. Rated: 2/5 May 1, 2008 Full Review Phelim O'Neill Guardian With his movie debut, Talbert plays to his established audience, the redemption message riding roughshod over everything, even such trifling concerns as character consistency and continuity. Rated: 1/5 Mar 28, 2008 Full Review Wendy Ide Times (UK) The least funny man ever to make a career in comedy movies, Ice Cube hauls his sullen mug back in front of the cameras for the execrable First Sunday. Rated: 1/5 Mar 28, 2008 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com The ending seems either a catering to studio influence or an effort to keep the film at a certain length as it falls short of Talbert's usual standard of writing. Rated: 2.5/4.0 Sep 7, 2020 Full Review Dave White Movies.com Rated: 2/5 Apr 4, 2011 Full Review Joshua Starnes ComingSoon.net First Sunday isn't an out and out bad film, but to be a good one it would need to either greatly raise the dramatic steaks, or push its comedic boundaries over the top in conception. Instead it treads water safely in the middle, and it shows. Rated: 5/10 Mar 22, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews

David J I have never seen such poor dialogue in a movie. My guess is that it was written with a dull crayon on the back of a pack of rolling papers. Ice Cube, or whatever his name is, is not an actor and will never be. You might need your 4th-grade Grammar book through this pathetic excuse of a movie. It's definitely 2 thumbs down! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/19/24 Full Review Stephen C LOL, 01 hour: and 38 minutes that made me laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked the movie. Loved the ending. Got teary eyed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Keshon L i mean like its a movie i mean the jokes are very funny to me like he is getting massage by a man like bro that was very funny i think the chruch people are pretty funny to.but this plot is wired robbing a chruch like that is such a crazy plot for this movie why was does movie created anyways?there are probably some plot holes in does movie on how to live this chruch man and the old man that was blind had the money man this is so underrated. The singing the guy that didn't know his birthday is the best part of the whole movie.problem is that it takes way to long to find were the money is his ice cubes fake son in does adds nothing to the story i would be find if you cut him out.but its a bad movie but fun its a 7/10 fun kinda but will not see again maybe idk.
