Native-American hunter Fish Hawk (Will Sampson), a man with a tragic past, has turned to alcohol to soothe his contempt for the world around him. But, when his cherished hunting dog is killed by a grizzly bear, Fish Hawk resolves to sober up and rid his community of dangerous wild animals. After taking up residence in a nearby town of white settlers, Fish Hawk befriends a young farmhand named Corby (Charles Fields) after rescuing him from an attacking wild boar.
