Catherine Bray Guardian It’s not up there with the heights of the genre -- Clueless, The Craft and Ginger Snaps (name-checked in the film) can rest easy -- but represents a thematically rich addition to the canon. Rated: 3/5 Sep 3, 2024 Full Review Radheyan Simonpillai CTV's Your Morning Warm, generous and vulnerable. Feb 7, 2024 Full Review Drew Gregory Autostraddle Fitting In is explicitly a celebration of our different bodies and the disconnect of certain biological markers from gender. Feb 5, 2024 Full Review Mary Kassel Screen Rant Maddie Ziegler gives a poignant performance as Lindy in a coming-of-age drama that touches upon a part of adolescence rarely explored on film. Rated: 3/5 Sep 13, 2024 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Although there’s an increasing number of films on related subjects, this is the first to adopt the language of mainstream cinema with such success. Rated: 4.5/5 Sep 10, 2024 Full Review Joe Lipsett Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr Podcast Fitting In has a great cast and explores a compelling story of non-normative female bodies. There's a few issues with the film's messaging, but overall it's pretty enjoyable and Maddie Ziegler makes a strong impression in the lead role. MaKenzie Was funny, had emotion, flowed like a real life story. Kept my attention. Great overall castings and acting. Will definitely be seeing it again! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review Brian P Moving story of a young girl coming off age in a way not like others. Maybe it's better to have emotional growth before physical maturity. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/24 Full Review John B Maddie Zeigler is a revelation as she carries this movie with emotional maturity and a stand-out performance. Emily Hampshire is a treat as the over-wrought, but loving mother, with a performance that will make you forget she was the girl behind the counter of the motel in Schitt's Creek. The movie tackles a topic that is difficult, and turns it into a tour de force in dealing with the anxious teenage challenge of fitting in when there is something different about you. Tasteful, humorous, sensitively written and directed. A secret gem which should be less of a secret. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review dave d Molly McGlynn's semi-autobiographical narrative feature tries really hard, but misses the mark on multiple levels. First there are two major health issues and one is focused and the other glossed over and it just didn't work for me. McGlynn's disdain for most of those surrounding her isn't unusual for a high school student, but casting someone of legal drinking age to play 17 took me out of the film. Also the haphazard nature of how athletics is brought in. Yes, you can go from never running to a college scholarship, but not quite the way it's described here. Big ole swing and a miss! Wasted chance and such a shame! Final Score: 5/10 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Scott Great movie didn't know it existed Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Dennis M Powerful, riveting, and frightening. A polarizing masterpiece of a film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/15/24 Full Review Read all reviews
