Stu B Zachary Scott (in one of his better performances) is a mob lawyer up to his moustache in murder; Virgina Mayo is the gang boss' gun moll who also happens to be Scott's girlfriend. Some of the plot twists--before, during and after the courtroom scenes-- are a bit hard to swallow, but the oddest thing is that femme fatale/gun moll Flaxy is the title character--despite the fact that for one whole stretch she all but disappears! Sometimes, noirish imagery and sharp, tough guy dialogue do not a great noir make. The ending is a bit of a head-scratcher, too. Entertaining, but that's all. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Nothing really was happening in this movie & just when I was about to give up & turn it off, the lawyer takes the murder rap for his girlfriend, (Who would do that?!) thinks he can get away with it but gets set up during the trial.I thought after that, I have to see how he gets himself out of this. That was the most exciting thing to happen in Flaxy Martin.I felt like it was all downhill from then on & Flaxy Martin became just another movie to add to my watchlist.I feel like if I decided then & there to turn it off, I wouldn't have missed anything at all.I was really disappointed because after almost giving up on the movie then being glad I didn't give up on it & then being disappointed again was a bummer. It felt like a total waste of time.Maybe you'll like Flaxy Martin but I didn't Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member mayo is the bad grrl is this noirish melodrama the usual WB cast shows up too. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Decent little noir with a good cast of Warners standbys. For being the title character Virginia's screen time is rather limited. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member weird but watchable complicated melodrama Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A movie starring Virginia Mayo as "unscrupulous showgirl Flaxy Martin" should've been more entertaining. I couldn't even make it to the end, it was so boring. It's hard to find many movies with Virginia Mayo in them, so this was a disappointment. Sorry, Flaxy! Despite being both unscrupulous and gorgeous, you and your film are dullsville. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
