Tim Brayton Alternate Ending A little sick, a little sad, and a lot confusing and mysterious in all the right ways. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 28, 2018 Full Review Eddie Strait The Daily Dot In the vein of past South Korean hits Oldboy and The Chaser, Forgotten is a twisty tale punctuated by slick action and slicker plotting. Tomaz B It's definitely worth a watch, try to go into the movie without knowing anything about it. This movie starts strong by making you think this is just another drama, but soon you start realizing there's more to the story than you previously thought. I especially liked the first half of the movie, after that the writers decided to reveal too many plot twists at once. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/09/24 Full Review Renata B One thing that really stood out to me was the symbolism in the final moments with Jin-seok and Yoo-seok. When Jin-seok dies with his eyes open, it felt like such a powerful metaphor — after everything he’s been through, he finally "sees" the truth that was hidden from him for so long. It’s almost like he’s forced to face the reality of his situation, even in death, and the weight of it all just hits you. On the other hand, Yoo-seok's eyes being closed when he dies feels like the opposite — he’s finally at peace. After years of being weighed down by guilt and secrets, he’s able to let go. His closed eyes show that he’s found closure and can finally rest. That contrast between the two brothers really sums up their emotional journeys and adds so much depth to the story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/05/24 Full Review Aqib P You gotta be kidding me. This plot is a landslide on your curiosity. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Yasmina T great watch. they lose the string at the end. but great buildup. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/25/24 Full Review Brooks M Poor attempt at mimicking Shutter Island. The movie actually starts out reasonably strong as a horror film??? It isn't until the end of the movie that you realize the parts that were exciting or interesting never actually added anything to the main plot other than to provide cheap quick thrills. With the amount of convenient unnecessary coincidences the twists started to feel like what Bollywood does to action movies. Did they run out of actors? Why does every character need to play 3 different roles with intertwined motives? It doesn't make the twists hit harder I'm already numb. Somehow, because the movie is so ridiculous and doesn't accomplish it on its own, they still needed to use the entire final third of the movie just to explain the story they were trying to tell. This will leave you wondering what the purpose was of 50% of the tangents the movie led you down. If you've seen this and like it, go watch Shutter Island. If you haven't seen this, go watch Shutter Island. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/17/24 Full Review Read all reviews
