Finding the humanity in one of cinema's most iconic monsters, Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein is a lavish epic that gets its most invigorating volts from Jacob Elordi's standout performance.

Peter Travers The Travers Take Uneven in tone and pacing, Guillermo del Toro’s passion project about a monster and his creator still roars to life as a thing of beauty and terror. As the Creature, Jacob Elordi conveys innocence, strength, sexuality and crushing sorrow. Rated: 3/4 Oct 27, 2025 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times The director’s innovations and invented characters, including Christophe Waltz’s munitions millionaire and the transfiguration of Victor’s fiancée Elizabeth (Mia Goth) into his brother’s bride, feel crudely grafted on to the source material. Rated: 3/5 Oct 27, 2025 Full Review Travis M. Andrews Washington Post Visually, the film is a sumptuous feast. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 24, 2025 Full Review Gabriela Meza Fuera de Foco Film was created so Guillermo del Toro could adapt this masterpiece. Rated: 5/5 Oct 28, 2025 Full Review Cris Kennedy Inner East Review Del Toro's vision for the film, which comes with Netflix money to bring it all together, is exquisite and feels informed solely by Mary Shelley's descriptions and not by the century of previous interpretations. Rated: 5/5 Oct 27, 2025 Full Review André Hereford Metro Weekly (Washington, DC) Guillermo del Toro's sumptuous 'Frankenstein' looks fantastic while lurching along like a ship trapped in ice. Lori G incredible artistry and cinematic beauty. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/28/25 Full Review Mel G Stunning! It is a shame that so many will not see this in a theater and feel the full impact. Visually, it is both beautiful and horrific at times. The acting is superb. Isaac portrays Frankensteins descent into madness without overplaying it. And you feel every emotion from Elordi, even under makeup. The movie has enough action that the run time feels reasonable. You may even find yourself staying a bit longer after the final scene to listen to the luscious score. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/25 Full Review Colleen B The best movie I have seen this year! Amazing performances by Jacob Elordi and Oscar Isaacs! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/25 Full Review Charles Beautifully made movie a must see on the big screen. Del Toro at his best Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/25 Full Review J.J. M Good performances, great sense of style, and that hint of del Toro artificiality that I've grown to appreciate. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/27/25 Full Review craig Well done rendition. Story told from many perspectives and visually entertaining Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/25 Full Review Read all reviews
