Peter F Oct 3 Meh. Hollywood story, brought (not) to life by German craftmanship (that is not a compliment in the world of movies). Lazy writing, poor dialogue, mostly horrible acting, dull camerawork, painful lack of a single atom of creativity in any aspect. It somehow wants to speak about mental illness through a kind of twisted superhero movie but remains weak, superficial and derivative on both fronts. Watchable but really not worth your time. But if you approach this wondering what would happen in the real world if people started being born with extraordinary abilities and how would the government respond to that - this is that pic. It keeps a narrow focus on a few people who've been impacted so you get a little more character development than your typical super hero flick, and more of the emotional toll - but the inferences of greater implications on society (for good or for ill) are all there. A small movie but one with a soul that is, by turns, sweet, gritty, sad, uplifting and edgy. I'd totally watch a sequel (and I need to know Marek's outcome!!!) The lead actress was great in finding the right balance of emotion in all the chaos. Definitely worth watching. It's deffo a kind of superhero movie that was more realistic although I would say it would have been even better to build the depth more for some other characters.
