ella b I'm about 30 minutes in and created an account just to write this review. Looking at it objectively it's just so bad. First they have lines that insinuate sexual feelings. When the mom switches bodies with the daughter, the mom in the daughters body goes to school and sings an entire song about how a guy leaning over her shoulder makes her feel things and forget all of her knowledge! Also the daughter tells her mom "I hate you" in one of the first scenes which I don't think would be good for younger kids to hear and start repeating that whenever they don't feel heard. The 2003 version has no dirty humor, or crazy remarks such as that. The soundtrack isn't terrible per se I enjoyed the composers use of polyphony. But aside from that they have had the main actor in the same outfit for 2 days, all scenes so far even when they switched bodies she's in the same outfit and when comparing to the 2003 movie when they switched bodies the mom completely re dressed the daughter and it was just fun to watch her dress up you'll understand if you see both the clear difference. I also think the way they portrayed the daughter in the beginning isn't just annoying but she becomes unlikeable. Where as in the 2003 version the daughter is annoying but funny and you're able to sympathize. The actors you can tell are actors where as in the 2003 version you really believe they are the characters. I wish I could have seen this before the 2003 version to be more objective but I bet even if I did I would like the other one more. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/23 Full Review Ramn Argenis U Es mierdaaa es más infantil y el humor es caca y los efectos son buenos y la música son olvidables y mucho gringe 💩💩💩💩 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/17/23 Full Review s c If you go into the musical with an open mind and not trying to compare to the Lindsey version.. it is sweet.. good emotional music.. our family enjoyed it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review steve d By far the worst adaptation but still fun enough. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Snaps The whole movie is just amazing. The songs are very "fresh". They show the hard and easy parts of being an adult and a child. Great family movie and any age would enjoy it and connect to it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/06/22 Full Review Kupcake K My family loves musicals and the 2003 version. The 2018 movie keeps jumping between musical and normal tween movies. The songs are alright, but none of the songs are worth to listen on repeat or karaoke. If your looking for something like Glee or High School Musical feel this movie falls short. The acting and storyline is boring compared to a lot of other Disney movies about breaking the generation gap. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/05/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Darren Franich Entertainment Weekly [Cozi] Zuelhsdorff and [Bridget] Blickenstaff give good age-crossed performances, but the tone around them is all over the place. Rated: D Sep 18, 2019 Full Review Hanh Nguyen indieWire In the case of Disney Channel's latest adaptation, dusting off Freaky Friday to reimagine it as a full-blown, Broadway-inflected musical is more than worth the effort thanks to its talented cast, infectious songs, and lively musical numbers. Rated: A- Sep 18, 2019 Full Review Verne Gay Newsday A colorful Friday with the Disney touch, while Zuehlsdorff and Blickenstaff shine. Rated: 3/4 Aug 8, 2018 Full Review Charles Pulliam-Moore io9.com While Freaky Friday's core idea about how young kids and adults could stand to better appreciate the respective difficulties they're faced with on a day to day basis is solid, the way that the most recent film handles its leads just feels boring. Sep 18, 2019 Full Review Emily Ashby Common Sense Media Musical reboot's heartwarming themes are great for families. Rated: 4/5 Aug 22, 2018 Full Review Matt Roush TV Insider Disney Channel's peppy musical version of Disney favorite Freaky Friday may not erase memories of the popular 1976 and 2003 movies, but the clever score by Pulitzer Prize winners Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal) brings a fresh, fun energy.
