For centuries, many men and women have left everything to give their lives to contemplation. FREE is a journey into the inner self of man. We have obtained permission to enter and talk to people who rarely utter a word, in places that remain closed to the world: THE MONASTERIES. What leads a person to strip himself of the world he knows, to withdraw from it for the rest of his life? How does such a person think? FREE approaches great questions of man's existence, with only one objective: to listen to them.

Christine Beautiful cinematography along with many equally beautiful messages for life. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/03/23 Full Review Mike M This documentary is almost a meditative experience on the biggest questions of life, especially purpose and our death. Gaining the perspectives of those who take the question most seriously and have given up their life so that they may find it, this film has broad appeal to those with an open mind. The viewing experience is definitely enriched for those with an extensive Catholic background who know the history of religious/monastic life and can recognize each order. However, the stunning cinematography and musical scores make this a very broadly enjoyable with a very personal feel. This movie is like sitting down and getting to know a group of sweet people who are driven to give their whole life to God so they may know him in the next. Moments of unexpected humor and a simple reverence for all the ordinary of life make this enriching for all. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/06/23 Full Review Susan M Tonight some of my family and a few friends went to the premiere showing of this film, LIBRES which in English means FREE. It was filmed in Spain and thus, the film was in Spanish and subtitled in English. It showed people called to the monastery and cloistered life. The messages were countless! The filmmakers did a superb job of bringing the beauty of the quiet, simple life by those called by God to live in silence as much as they did the beauty of these ancient places where they resided, that depend only on natural light. Intriguing , to say the least. Scenery was beautiful! If you want to ponder about the busyness of our daily lives and how we forget to give God some time ...go see this film. My biggest take away was how we, as people, need to find our quiet place to contemplate, commune and listen for God. Joy and peace is so desired in our world especially today, but all the noise and racing around that goes on daily does not and will not fill us with peace. Only God does. The monks and nuns in this film gave true to life testimonies of how happy they were in their "quiet place" with our wondrous God. They shared how God called them all in such different ways.Their heartfelt words, left us all with the desire to bond with God in nature and prayer...real Godly conversations can happen. So thoroughly enjoyed it as did the others. Thank you to the producers, cinematographer, musicians and distributers for giving us this film in America. Please consider seeing this film if it comes your way. And, find your " Quiet Place" with God. He's waiting. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews
