Audience Member the facts of Melody Armstrong's resiliency to change archaic Mississippi Licensure: Laws are inspirational! the movie is fun, heartwarming & could possibly change the way I look at challenges. BTW it's likely this happened during your generation. appreciate the Neal R review & unsure how to express that outside of editing my own review Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/01/25 Full Review Allison R A really lovely inspiring true story. An easy watch, this is an uplifting film with a lot of heart. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/05/24 Full Review Neal R I COULD HARDLY BELIEVE HOW MUCH I LIKED THIS MOVIE! Even though I'm a straight white male who knows about as much as Einstein when it comes to hair styling, I enjoyed this movie tremendously! The movie illustrates so well the need for freedom and natural rights (which transcend any government laws or dictates) in order for human beings to thrive, but the story is far more complex and nuanced than I anticipated -- as are the characters, making their journeys surprisingly emotional and moving. The story is also well-lubricated with plenty of genuinely funny jokes... the humor often being a way of dealing with frustrating -- and even painful -- truths. One of my favorites is early in the movie, when Melony (the main character) says that the coffee (at the women's shelter she just started working at) is terrible, but at least it's hot. One of the women responds: "That's what I thought about my husband." (And, truth be told, as someone who always pays extra for a shampoo, even though it usually isn't really necessary, I could relate quite well to the massage-like pleasure the customers get from Melony's magic healing "hands of life".) I highly recommended this movie, for virtually all audiences (demographics), in the strongest possible terms. After all, as Melody says near the climax of the movie: "Braids aren't for everyone. But Freedom is." Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/01/24 Full Review Read all reviews
