Larry T I peeked at some of the reviews while enjoying this little gem of a time travel movie. It made me wonder was I watching the same movie the critics were talking about? It's fun, and funny. It makes full use of the paradoxes inherent in the trustee old sci-fi time travel, plot device. It's witty, droll, and charming. Its leads – Chris O'Dowd, Mark, Wootton, Dean Lennox Kelly, and Anna Faris - all turn in brilliant comedic performances. And, it accomplishes all this in the space of 78 minutes from opening scene to final credits, avoiding the sins of so many recent movies which just don't seem to know when to end. I'm not saying it's at the same masterful level of brilliance as "Back to the Future", which I think of as one of the five best sci-fi movies of all time, and the only sci-fi comedy which belongs in that lofty category. Very few movies can compare to that one. However, this movie is at least excellent. If you look at my other reviews, you'll see I'm pretty fussy. Science fiction, in particular, has a hard time getting a passing grade from me. And so does comedy. As difficult as it may be to please me, this tight little sci-fi comedy really rang the bell for me. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/25/23 Full Review Adriano L Unpretentiously good! I started watching it, and I really enjoyed it! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/27/23 Full Review Graeme C Loved this movie, great cast, clever storyline, lots of sharp British wit, lots of fun. As unrealistic as the story is, if this actually happened to three British lads in a pub, this is exactly how it would go down. Ok so they didn't have much of a budget and it feels like an amateur film made by geeks for geeks, but if you're a geek, it's brilliant. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/25/23 Full Review riley c Starts off with sci-fi intro credits but takes a hard left into guys sitting around talking. Which strangely enough still works. Then the hottie shows up, time gets broken and wackiness ensues! Loved it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Jeffrey C I can't believe the negative comments on here. This is a fun and flighty time travel romp! Have watched it multiple times and enjoy it every time!! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/03/22 Full Review robert p Maybe it's just me, but for the life of me, I could not get into this movie. Maybe British humor is just not my thing!! Philip Wilding Empire Magazine Refreshingly, director Carrivick's feature debut is both dark, compelling and occasionally laugh-out-loud funny. Rated: 3/5 Apr 24, 2009 Full Review Dominic Wells Times (UK) Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel is, unashamedly, a Mini Cooper of a film: small but nippy. Rated: 3/5 Apr 24, 2009 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian This is the worst film of the week, a dire British comedy, to which the only honest response is to soil and then set fire to the Union flag in the foyer of your local cinema. Rated: 1/5 Apr 24, 2009 Full Review Sarah Manvel Critic's Notebook Screenwriter Jamie Mathieson deserves a lot of credit for a tightly structured set-up... The trouble is the banter is a stairway to nowhere; the punchlines wither in the actors' mouths, raising weak smiles but no belly laughs. Aug 9, 2018 Full Review David Nusair About.com ...an amiable, well-meaning bit of escapist sci-fi... Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 8, 2011 Full Review Edward Porter Sunday Times (UK) There are some good ideas, but I was disappointed not to get an ending that pieced everything together into a satisfying chain of events. The film provokes questions, all right, but too many are left unanswered. Rated: 2/5 Apr 28, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews
