Shirley Li The Atlantic Instead, it fearlessly—and wackily—reckons with how confounding people can be in their bid for one another’s approval: at work, at home, at their new friend’s house while dressed in their finest Ocean View Dining clothing. May 28, 2025 Full Review Kat Sachs Chicago Reader While there are definitely a few smart laughs, the film felt like a hastily thrown-together product. May 27, 2025 Full Review Radheyan Simonpillai CTV's Your Morning A clever movie for people who are comfortable seeing the most uncomfortable version of themselves in these characters and laughing at our own most embarrassing behaviour. May 25, 2025 Full Review Kent Garrison Mad About Movies Podcast Tim Robinson can say any four words with a certain inflection and get a laugh out of me. Rated: A Jun 10, 2025 Full Review Paul Marchbanks Christianity Today Like the comedies Superstar and Napoleon Dynamite, which lay pariahs’ amusing problems at their own feet, Friendship implies that those without the right personality type will forever be stuck at a primitive stage of development. Jun 9, 2025 Full Review Austin Burke Austin Burke/Flick Fan Nation Rudd’s presence vibes so well with Robinson, and this script allows the right risks to be taken. Chris he hardest I’ve laughed at a movie in a while. Definitely helps if you’re a I Think You Should Leave fan. Pretty well done humor aside also. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/19/25 Full Review Daniel H I laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed. IT WAS REALLY REALLY GOOD. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/18/25 Full Review Chris W I think if you’re not a Tim Robinson fan or familiar with his style of comedy. Then this movie may be a little much for you, But idk how you could watch this movie and not instantly become a fan of his. And even still, I think there’s something on screen for everybody in this movie. The chemistry of every character on screen is magnificent. And to take something as normal as “meeting your new neighbor and incorporating it with the act of making new friends as an adult. This movie encompasses those feelings of acceptance and rejection with equal parts foolishness and second-hand embarrassment. Although the movie does feel like one giant “ I think you should leave” bit/episode. I say with great confidence. This is one of the funniest movies of all time. Easily. My stomach and jaw both hurt from laughing and smiling so much at this movie. While Paul Rudd basically played a more relaxed and confident version of the same character he played in Anchor Man. It’s still beyond entertaining to see him on screen navigating these situations with Tim Robinson, and Ofcourse the charm that is, Paul Rudd that oozes off the screen Everytime he appears. This movie is great, hilarious, and a masterclass in taking a situation that should be quite normal and turning it into a parade of silliness. If I had to describe this movie other than it being a long bit from Tim’s show. I would call it a raunchy modern take of a Seinfeld episode. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/16/25 Full Review Curtis G Let me preface this by saying I am a big fan of I Think You Should Leave and other cringe 'comedy' like Nathan Fielder, etc. What you are getting here seems to be an extended ITYSL-style sketch, but not a series of sketches. Some of the humor from the show comes in the fast-paced delivery of the insanity. At this pace it's much easier to find yourself contemplating the darker underlying themes to these 'goofball' characters, who are really only goofy because they have major issues. Two films came to mind after watching this. First, Cable Guy, which is clearly an ancestor to this film but its outrageous tenor kept it firmly on the side of dark comedy. Second, One Hour Photo, a psychological thriller starring a great comedian but is just about dark obsession. While a lot of what happens is funny, in retrospect, it's not the laugh riot fans of Tim Robinson might expect. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/16/25 Full Review Michael S Loved it. Crazy and funny!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/16/25 Full Review Robert T There were a few funny parts. The rest of the time I was thinking WTF. The acting was good, but it just wasnt a good story.
