As Los Angeles cop Mike Mulick (John Spencer) tries to cope with his crumbling marriage by becoming increasingly dependent on booze, he and his partner, Tommy Alomar (Eddie Velez), take on a disturbing gangland murder case. As the officers scour the seedy slums of the city, attempting to dig deeper into their investigation, startling clues about a major heist begin to emerge -- and so do the ugly, long-buried details of a tragic event from Mulick's past involving the death of a fellow detective.
