A desperately needed wagon full of medical supplies falls victim to an Apache attack. The only man who can guide it through to its destination is Merrick Beckford, but in order to get there, he'll need to enlist the help of a trio of dangerous outlaws hell-bent on survival. The model here should perhaps have been the Ranown Cycle: inexpensive but beautiful and brisk character-driven westerns none of which are longer than 80 minutes. Still, Frontier Crucible does look lovely.

While it’s a mostly solid effort that will play just fine on cable and VOD, Frontier Crucible is unlikely to revive the theatrical fortunes of the Western genre that seems to ebb and flow in popularity.

It’s nice to see filmmakers playing around with genre rather than being shackled to it. That creative freedom is what keeps “Frontier Crucible” from being just another trip to the Old West.

Definitely good so far if you consider it a comedy. Shit was so stupid I had to laugh. This review is of the first 30 minutes because it's not interesting enough to keep me awake. I'll update the review if I ever actually finish the movie.

A very uneven script. The cast is solid with Thomas Jane, Armie Hammer and Myles Clohessy and the basic premise is pretty decent too. Its a shame then that so many of the performances are awful and so few of the choices make any sense. Its been years since I've seen a good western and I'll have to wait a bit longer
