Andy Webster New York Times A musical on a threadbare budget, the film gamely reaches for the stars, but is hamstrung by its constraints, not all of which derive from a lack of funds. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 24, 2010 Full Review Read all reviews

Maureen K I saw the film when it premiered at CAAMFest in San Francisco. Fruit Fly is filmed in my old neighborhood and I love the raw feel of the cinematography. HP Mendoza manages to capture the spirit of San Francisco in this film, most likely because he lives there and clearly loves the city as much as I do. Despite the film being made on a low budget, it has a lot of heart and tells an authentic story of that time and place - in song! The tunes are catchy and an original way to tell a contemporary story in such a beautiful place. Highly recommend. Awesome graphics on the city skyline. One of the best I have seen. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member 20 minutes in and I could not take anymore. Nails on a chalkboard bad.
