A musical on a threadbare budget, the film gamely reaches for the stars, but is hamstrung by its constraints, not all of which derive from a lack of funds. Go to Full Review

Maureen K Mar 14 I saw the film when it premiered at CAAMFest in San Francisco. Fruit Fly is filmed in my old neighborhood and I love the raw feel of the cinematography. HP Mendoza manages to capture the spirit of San Francisco in this film, most likely because he lives there and clearly loves the city as much as I do. Despite the film being made on a low budget, it has a lot of heart and tells an authentic story of that time and place - in song! The tunes are catchy and an original way to tell a contemporary story in such a beautiful place. Highly recommend. See more ken o Mar 13 Saw it years ago, still singing the songs today. One of the best I have seen. See more 03/01/2015 20 minutes in and I could not take anymore. Nails on a chalkboard bad. See more 03/11/2011 So very San Francisco. Fag hags, crabby landlords, and great locations. See more Read all reviews
