The police have made a terrible mistake. Michael O'Keefe (Barry Fitzgerald) is sentenced to death after circumstantial evidence ties him to a crime committed by Pat McGinnis (Victor McLaglen). The only individual who is aware of this grim truth is Father Loma (Joseph Calleia), who hears McGinnis' confession when the guilty murderer mistakenly believes he is dying.
