Alexander Walker London Evening Standard An intelligent, wellconstructed emotional thriller with added gunplay, it delivers a pleasurable blend of mischief and mayhem. Jan 9, 2018 Full Review Ted Shen Chicago Reader Full of visual and verbal references to action and noir favorites, but burdened by a knotty story line and existential dialogue about fateful coincidences, it has trouble locating its own emotional core. Feb 9, 2007 Full Review Peter Kenis Rolling Stone Rated: 3/4 Jul 17, 2003 Full Review Alberto Abuín Espinof A correct movie, unbalanced at times, and presenting some lazy rhythm, but that delivers very good moments of action. Audience Member O is a reclusive assassin of Japanese descent working in Hong Kong. He is ruthless and efficient and largely considered the top assassin in Hong Kong. He is also in love with the young woman he hired to clean his apartment, but they are both so quiet and introverted that they have never discussed their feelings. Along comes Andy Lau, a flamboyant assassin trying to take down O and unseat his position as top assassin. He romances the young lady to get to O. Also in the mix ... cop Simon Yam pursuing both of them. An eccentric, action filled flick co-directed by Johnnie To and Wai Ka Fai. Not as great as some of their other films, but a solid bit of entertainment. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Alkaa tää aasialainen toiminta pikkuhiljaa tökkimään. Varsinkin kun se on yliampuvan kikkailevaa. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member a romance-action film by johnnie to is PERFECT. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Gratuitous Gun-Fu the illegitimate love child of Johnnie To titillates our cornea's with a visually stunning gunplay ballet! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This competition about two hitman is a little bit underrated, a lot of great ideas, sometime completely crazy and unrealistic, but the fantasy that surrounds HK films is what it's all about, right? This is not a must see but another should see from Johnnie To's repertoire. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A MUST SEE action film from under rated Andy Lau. I was surprised how good this was. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
