Carey-Ann Pawsey Orca Sound The strongest part of the film is how relatable it is. Dec 20, 2021 Full Review Tara McNamara Common Sense Media Funny Thing About Love serves up a multigenerational Thanksgiving romcom that won't leave a bad taste in your mouth, although it may put you to sleep. Rated: 2/5 Dec 7, 2021 Full Review Nathaniel Muir AIPT While it does scratch the holiday rom-com itch, it does so with characters that turn away audiences. Funny in a generic way and completely unrelatable. Dec 4, 2021 Full Review Phil Villarreal ABC Tucson As harmless holiday fluff it's serviceable, but as Samantha should realize, there are better options out there. christopher c. m What a boring mess. Absolutely nothing happens. The characters are bland as milk toast. It feels like a Pureflix snooze without the religious persecution complex. The grampa wanting to eat carbs and sweets when he's not allowed to is kind of funny. But they never said why he's not allowed to? If he's a diabetic in his old age, doesn't explain the carbs. That was a subplot I would have seen more of then the long drawn out talks pretty much about nothing. Hell, why the hell is this PG? Seriously, this has nothing in it that would require parental guidance. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Leo W C movie for sure. Bottom of the Hallmark barrel. I just can't with these generic movies that all have the same story and same director that hates his life for where his career went. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/06/22 Full Review Audience Member Like another user I signed up just to rate this movie. With a limited selection during a hospital stay we clicked on one of the few movies we hadn't seen. We watched it purely for the facsinating experience of experiencing some of the worst writing and worst acting and predictable plot lines we'd ever seen. Almost seemed like a parody. I had this strange feeling brought on by some of the the dialogue and even the wardrobe that it had a subtle conservative bent. Sure enough I looked up the romantic "lead" and it was a comedian I'd never heard of named K- Von (?) immediately came to his youtube channel mocking liberals, Biden and all things progressive. Should have known. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Beyond cheesy. I didn't know there could be cringier movies than what hallmark puts out. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I actually signed up for RT just so I could rate this movie and hopefully save somebody $6. This movie was beyond bad. The best way to describe it is it's like a born-again Christian movie only it isn't really religious and Kirk Cameron isn't in it. The trailer makes you think it's a normal movie, but it isn't. It's a little preachy about Thanksgiving , but mostly it's just bad. The acting is atrocious, but honestly, Meryl Streep couldn't save this script. Ten minutes in, you know two things about this movie: you won't laugh even once in the next 90 minutes and you know exactly how it will end. I don't watch Hallmark movies, but Hallmark would be humiliated by the comments comparing it to one of their movies. It's bad enough listening to awful dad jokes for 90 minutes, but it's completely nauseating hearing them from young actors. There are great PG-13 movies; hell, there are great G movies if you're looking for a movie without cursing. This isn't one of them. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This was so so so so bad. I never write reviews but when I saw it had 90% I had to say something. Seriously. Unless this is somehow a tongue in cheek mocking of Hallmark movies, there is just no way. I can't believe I watched this all the way through, I just thought, surely there has to be a twist. There is no twist. You know exactly what will happen in the first 2 minutes of the movie and the acting and writing did not make that an easy hour and 30 minutes to swallow as I waited for it to end. In general it felt like a pharmaceutical commercial that just never came up with the side effects. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
