Cowboys Fuzzy Jones (Al St. John) and Billy Carson (Buster Crabbe) decide to settle on a ranch outside the small town of Red Rock. They find the town in an uproar over the murder of the newspaper editor, who had urged the construction of a telegraph to help in their land rights battle with Lafe Barlow (Charles King) and his gang of outlaws. After Fuzzy and Billy buy the newspaper and ask the editor's daughter, Edith (Patti McCarthy), to help run it, a furious Lafe and his thugs attack the town.
