Paul Lê Bloody Disgusting Toho’s concurrent Heisei reboot of Godzilla concentrated on the government and army fighting the monsters rather than addressing the immense damage they caused; Gamera went in the opposite direction by having each movie be more personal than the last. Rated: 5/5 Jul 23, 2023 Full Review James Mudge easternKicks.com Benefitting from more substance than usual along with excellent effects, the film represents everything enjoyable about the genre, and provides first-rate monster action Rated: 4/5 Oct 27, 2020 Full Review Tim Brayton Antagony & Ecstasy One of the finest Japanese monster movies... nuanced in its story and character, bold in its visual dynamism. Justin T This is my least favourite of the ‘modern’ trilogy but my third favourite of the franchise so far. There is an excellent new kaiju that reminds me of a Pokémon with different evolution forms and gigantamax. Whilst it is a good film it is let down by being quite surreal and hard to follow the story with so many elements irrelevant to the actual story. The human story lets down the monster action. I liked seeing two kaiju indoors, never seen that before. Also this has probably the best sense of scale in any kaiju film ever, they look really huge. Definitely worth watching but not quite as good as the first two in this trilogy. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/08/25 Full Review Adam S The final film in Gameras' second era closes with a dark, somber tone and offers the message of getting over resentment through one of the most exhilarating Kaiju films ever made. Rating: 85% Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/24 Full Review Audience Member The special effects did get little worse, but it's one of best Heisei kaiju film I ever seen. I'm not saying It's one of the best kaiju films (If I was, that means I'm saying it's better than the Showa Godzilla films and Reiwa films.). The characters are more memorable, and story is fantastic. However, this film will not be one of the best kaiju sequels ever, since I prefer Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964) to be better. Grade: Pretty good 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member A masterful deconstruction of the genre and themes that range from religious to severe trauma, Gamera 3 excels in story, characters and monster scenes that go above and beyond. A true masterpiece. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member You cannot even exaggerate how stellar this movie is. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is one of the best kaiju movies of all time. The plot is character-driven, and the characters are actually fleshed out and have clear motivations. The music, action, acting, and monsters are all great. This is peak Gamera. This is also a rare example of a trilogy that gets better with each film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
