After her teenage son is killed in a shootout between a gang and the police, Cidàlia (Rita Blanco), a Portuguese immigrant living in begins searching for his killer. In the process, she breaks the Portuguese tradition of silence, and the community turns against her. She loses her job, her sister (Teresa Madruga) refuses to understand her pursuit of the truth and her husband (Adriano Luz) is distracted by finances. However, through it all, Cidàlia finds herself.
