Lovia Gyarkye New York Times Rawal covers a substantial amount of ground and deftly balances the dense material without losing sight of the mission driving the bigger story: Healing from generational trauma sometimes starts with just one person. Sep 10, 2020 Full Review Chris Barsanti PopMatters Despite the rich source material and engaging characters on hand, Gather more often feels somewhat thin and repetitive. Feb 2, 2021 Full Review Brian Costello Common Sense Media Docu on food sovereignty has positive messages, role models. Rated: 4/5 Sep 22, 2020 Full Review Pamela Powell Reel Honest Reviews The stunning cinematography accentuates every aspect of the story, the beauty of our land, and the need to understand the gifts we have all been given to live a life of truth about our pasts and create a new path for the future. Rated: 4/4 Sep 10, 2020 Full Review Rob Rector Film Threat Rawal's movie offers a fascinating, visually striking glimpse of just how the seeds of oppression and racism can thrive for generations. Mona H Fascinating, inspiring and a lot to digest (pardon the pun). There is some amazing work being done, I sincerely hope that not only will it help physically and spiritually heal the first nations, but there are many lessons for the larger population to learn about respect for the earth and creatures that feed us. I am especially inspired by the very young in this film. I wish them every success in achieving the goals they have set. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/08/23 Full Review Audience Member This moving and inspiring film looks at four grassroots initiatives aiming to restore and regenerate food sovereignty by and for indigenous Native Americans. The initiatives range from a new food cafe on the White Mountain Reservation; restoring the skills and rights of fishing on the Klamath River of northern California; reviving the ancient knowledge and skills of foraging for wild plants and animals; and demonstrating the nutritional superiority of grass-fed buffalo and revitalising buffalo as a source of spiritual and physical nourishment.
