Anton Bitel Eye for Film the film's distractingly cheap look, the total absence of characterisation and some very misguided decisions about the placement of the camera, all conspire to make the fights as drearily unengaging as possible. Apr 16, 2010 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Surprisingly good low-budget 1-on-1 chanbara. The effects are poor, but the direction is great for the most part. Minami is an impressive talent. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member cheap look =just a so-so chop soky pic Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Congratulations are in order to Go Ohara because Geisha vs Ninjas is a fighting success.
75 minutes is all it takes for a geisha assassin to slice her way through adversary after adversary to avenge her father. Seriously, that's all there is to it. The story is thin, linear, and it constantly goes back and forth between fighting and walking. Actually, there is a little back story in between some of the fights, as well as some fade outs to help advance the story.

The title is a bit deceiving because the opponents aren't all ninjas, but that shouldn't discourage because the variety of enemies is a welcome sight. The high abundance of action and choreography is great, while the sword play is fast and furious. There is even some wire-work involved.

Minami Tsukui is believable with her stances and moves. As the film progresses she looks less like a geisha and more like a sexy female assassin. Then it starts raining and she is all wet and muddy. Nice. 99% of the rest of the cast are there to get in Minami's way.

After everything that takes place in Geisha vs Ninjas, the ending seems a little drawn out, but that is one of the few disappointments of this low-budget movie. Enjoy.
Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member a young geisha warrior sets out to avenge her warrior father, a young man she witnessed murder him years earliar, but before she can get to him, and him taunting her she must defeat his loyal servants also trained in samuri, a entertaining film, full of energy and exiting fight scenes that the east usually puts on, looks great also, and great use of colour and its locations, enjoyable throughout Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
