Filmmaker Jacqueline Mills uses a “contact mic” which enables us to hear the constant buzz of life – in wood, insects crawling up a plant – fascinating. Consider how lucky we are to be able to explore Sable Island for 90 minutes. Go to Full Review

Jonathan K Jun 22 Kind of a lot of dead animals for my taste. I get it, it's nature, it's natural. But yeah. The doc had some seriously mesmerizing sound and visuals. The use of alternative film techniques was super cool, and there were a few absolutely jaw-dropping shots -- especially the starry night scenes. I was very bored by all the zoology deep-dives and animal databasing. Snooooooze. But I loved the nature and wildlife footage, especially the way it highlighted how we humans are leaving damage in our wake. So much trash and plastic, the island was like a vortex for junk.
