Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com Carla Gugino delivers one of the best performances of the year in a faithful adaptation from Mike Flanagan. Rated: A Nov 16, 2019 Full Review Nick Schager The Daily Beast Gerald's Game ultimately argues that monsters are real, and that they can only be defeated (or, at least, "minimized") through direct confrontation. Oct 5, 2017 Full Review Aja Romano Vox One of the best things about this movie is its smallness Oct 3, 2017 Full Review Joe Lipsett Anatomy of a Scream Podcast Network Flanagan's thrilling adaptation shouldn't work, but the director's style, plus Gugino and Greenwood's acting, is never less than captivating. The coda works better in hindsight, particularly when it's presented as Jessie's Good For Her moment. Rated: 4.5/5 Nov 2, 2022 Full Review Daniel Howat Next Best Picture The performances and writing are so strong that it's the atmosphere that scares you more than anything. Gerald's Game is a great, tense film that doesn't pander or belittle you. It'll make you squirm in all the best ways. Rated: 7/10 May 19, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Flanagan's direction is superb. Gerald's Game is a film that looks like it was storyboarded, and that those storyboards were followed in every detail. Rated: 3.5/4 Feb 23, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Greg E Fans of practical effects will appreciate THE scene. Other than that it's barely held together by the great acting. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/06/25 Full Review Alejandra C I like flanagan so i like the directing of the movie and the actors. Overall, its worth but aint gonna be your favorite. Still enjoyable Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/06/25 Full Review Siennah H Genuinely what was i watching. This made no sense me and my friend spent a lot of money on food and snacks so we could have a great sleepover, sure you might think that 7 pound isn't a lot but when you are young and broke this is big money to us. She stayed in bed for the whole movie which i'm aware she couldn't help it.Best part of the movie is when we saw King moonie. i'd rather watch paint dry then this again Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/27/25 Full Review Abe M. A gripping, can’t look away adaptation of King source Material. The coda was not required, and the themes hit you over the head. Well acted, if not a bit schmaltzy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/08/25 Full Review Lynneth S An intriguing piece of a psychological horror story. To most of us, the horror genre has been classified as one that utilizes ghosts or ghouls to instill fear among the viewers. Horror is not limited to that, however. It can also be seen as a feeling of vulnerability and of an enigma, just as the movie is able to depict it. It did not depict horror by showing it, but letting the viewer experience the vulnerable–a reality that could happen to anyone–made it much more terrifying. What I have realized is how powerful mechanism our mind truly is. Applied the movie where instances of the lead's hallucinations are actually intended by her mind, which is incapable of fathoming the terrifying reality she is experiencing, running into her head—in other words, she went insane. As such, these hallucinations can be attributed to her childhood traumas instead of being surmounted and buried into darkness—unimaginable that was then suppressed. It was the same as what she encountered in the cabin. Her mind refused to accept the unimaginable and so minimized it through her hallucination of the dog beside her just-died husband and herself. I want to make a point about how the movie is excellently depicted from the lead's perspective. It made a significant allowance for the viewers to see her perspective while having these hallucinations and also showed glimpses of reality when she is abstinence of her hallucinations. It indeed is the horror depicted by exposing to us the vulnerability like when the door is open in the dark of night. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/26/25 Full Review mop h Compelling at first. Then became contrived. Still a good watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/02/25 Full Review Read all reviews
