In the near future, Major is the first of her kind: a human who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world's most dangerous criminals. Never understood why this movie got so much hate. I am a fan of the anime and this live action take was great. Just think it was hated for all the wrong reasons. Anime aside, as a movie at the end of the day, it was a great sci-fi thriller. Great visual and pretty decent story too. Maybe later down the road it might be appreciated.

A Visually Stunning, Decent but Hollow Adaptation No live-action adaptation was ever going to capture the philosophical depth of the original Ghost in the Shell—but to its credit, this film does more right than it does wrong. ✔ Visually stunning—a cyberpunk world beautifully realized. ✔ Scarlett Johansson delivers a strong performance. ✔ The story is actually decent, even if it’s not profound. ✔ Bonus points for Basset Hounds. ❌ It plays it way too safe—stripping away the deep, existential elements of the anime. ❌ It’s good, but it’s not great. ✔️ Verdict: Ghost in the Shell (2017) is a visually fantastic adaptation that doesn’t offend, but also doesn’t elevate the material. A good movie, but not a great one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
