Paul LĂȘ Bloody Disgusting Ghostkeeper is a cheapo, but it’s also a creepy curio that greatly benefits from location and mood. The happy accidents seen all throughout make this visit to Deer Lodge worth a look. Rated: 3/5 Jul 20, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member RT seems to have combined entries for two separate films: 1980's Ghostkeeper (singular), which I have neither seen nor offer an opinion on, and 2012's Ghostkeepers (plural), which I am reviewing. Ever wanted to watch a haunted house film that's not scary? This movie's got you covered, with a complete lack of suspense, jumpscares, or even cheap gory special-effect laden death scenes. Accidental hilarity in the dialogue redeems this otherwise pointless, non-journey of a plot. It's pretty obvious from the cast's accents that the film was shot in Canada, but the groundskeeper's accent belies that with a quizzical and inconsistent Southeastern US accent. The only other noteworthy character is the younger male lead, who genuinely reminds of Denny (Danny?) from The Room, except with his chin pinned to his chest in every take. The worst performance is the DP/Screenwriter's own, where he waxes on and on playing a pretentious British Actor, but instead we just see the pretentious filmmaker playing himself (he does have some cringe-inducing dialogue that I could at least laugh at). Speaking of the DP, he clearly doesn't know how to properly light a shot, how to white-balance anything, or even how to get his actors to stay in focus, on the rare occasion that the camera's focused correctly. As long as I'm nitpicking, the director's approach to make-up was clearly come-as-you-are, as only the actresses had even skin tone which didn't glow under the light; the men looked as handsome as uncooked fish. Fatal flaws aside, the final verdict on this film is all in all unwatchably Watchable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A delightfully disturbing masterpiece from Canada in the same vein as Psycho and The Shining. This film has all the ingredients to be a great horror film, a great story, genuinely creepy atmosphere, soundtrack that chills one to the bone (no pun intended), beautifully executed cinematography, great scares, and well rounded characters. It's hard not to like a film that was made with so much love. From the very beginning scene in the film it establishes its chilling backdrop as well as suspense and it never once does it let up. Movies like these are why people go to the movies in the first place. This film is a must watch for any fan of films, horror and not-horror fans will fall in love with this film. A remarkable achievement in Canadian cinema. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member the last 15-20 minutes are full of thrills and suspense. overall, an excellent Canadian horror film. a ten out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A surprisingly watchable riff on the idea of the Wendigo legends, with people stranded in a remote (apparently abandoned) lodge in the snow swept mountains, where a strange entity lurks. Worth a look, has some unsettling moments. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member A trio of snowmobilers take refuge in a closed hotel that has an old lady as a caretaker who keeps a Native North American ghost legend Wendigo in the basement. Interestingly, the Wendigo appears more like a flesh eating ogre than a ghost. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I had heard a lot about this Canadian horror film. Sadly, I found it very slow and boring. Don't believe the hype. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
