      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Ghostbusters does an impressive job of standing on its own as a freewheeling, marvelously cast supernatural comedy -- even if it can't help but pale somewhat in comparison with the classic original.

Catherine Scott Bitch Media Ghostbusters is fun, it's silly, and it doesn't take itself too seriously. Feb 11, 2021 Full Review Alexandra Heller-Nicholas ABC News (Australia) The new Ghostbusters film is a smart, spectacular addition to the series. Aug 27, 2018 Full Review Soraya Nadia McDonald Andscape Frankly, if you're going to make a new Ghostbusters with a female foursome as the leads and you're facing a backlash from clanging dungeons of the woman-hating internet, it seems like it would make for an epic opportunity to troll them. Sep 26, 2017 Full Review Zach Pope Zach Pope Reviews See this film for Ghostbuster laughs and a new era of Ghostbusters Aug 7, 2023 Full Review Brian T. Carney Washington Blade Ghostbusters offered a fresh and fun spin on the classic testosterone-fueled comedy and featured Chris Hemsworth as a dim-witted himbo, delightful cameos by cast members from the original movie, and a wonderful breakout performance by Kate McKinnon. Dec 21, 2022 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies Instead of doing something memorable with the great chemistry we see from the cast, “Ghostbusters” settles for being another in a long line of mediocre 80’s movie remakes. Ralf_Wolf the jokes fell flat ... I expected sooo much more from pretty much everyone in this movie unfortunately the writing/directing let us all down and this will be a horrible mark on everyone involved Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/24/21 Full Review Ed R Absolutely hysterical! Great tie in with the originals with an SNL twist! Must watch! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/17/24 Full Review Ryan B i enjoyed it but man production on this movie is rough- i don’t know if this is weird but it felt on the cusp of a disney channel movie. actors were the only saving grace, however mellisa mccarthy can be a little much at times. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Gorptholemew T 🍀 5.0/10 Like a little idiot, I laughed every time Chris Hemsworth did something. This movie is not like awful Doesn't really do anything new and the visuals aren't really like that great just feels a little dry the comedy ether pretty giggle, worthy or really miss although the actors all have some pleasant chemistry. Grade C+ Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review Gábor G Even such an excellent cast can't counterbalance such a cringy script. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/02/24 Full Review Darryl S This movie just gave me a headache. Kristen Wiig's character is annoying, the special effects were better in the 1984 version. Chris Hemsworth is just dumb. I ceased to care about the storyline ( if there actually was one ). Not sure I even smiled, let alone laugh!
