Paranormal researcher Abby Yates and physicist Erin Gilbert are trying to prove that ghosts exist in modern society. When strange apparitions appear in Manhattan, Gilbert and Yates turn to engineer Jillian Holtzmann for help. Also joining the team is Patty Tolan, a lifelong New Yorker who knows the city inside and out. Armed with proton packs and plenty of attitude, the four women prepare for an epic battle as more than 1,000 mischievous ghouls descend on Times Square.

It brings the modern changes and updates that come with making this kind of movie in 2016 and not 1984, which equates to a high level of flashy CGI and blockbuster-level action compared to the saucy and subtle original.

Ghostbusters offered a fresh and fun spin on the classic testosterone-fueled comedy and featured Chris Hemsworth as a dim-witted himbo, delightful cameos by cast members from the original movie, and a wonderful breakout performance by Kate McKinnon.

the jokes fell flat ... I expected sooo much more from pretty much everyone in this movie unfortunately the writing/directing let us all down and this will be a horrible mark on everyone involved

Super funny and lighthearted! CGI was pretty decent. The movie does not take itself seriously which is honestly what gives it the charm it has. It's a childhood favorite for me, someone born in 2009.

An all around well made movie and I appreciate any attempt to continue the Ghostbusters IP. As a modern update to the original it's fine but doesn't capture the same magic as the originals but honestly what can. Kate Mckinnon was the best part of the movie! I liked the updated suits and the tech used in the movie as I felt they really tried to meet the creativity of the originals. Overall just an okay movie and a silly spin on Ghostbusters. Hopefully it inspires young women everywhere to join the ranks of Ghost Corps!

I gave it a shot. Not sure how this even got as high of a score as it did. This novie was horrible. Special effects were good. Script was poorly written. Feel like I wasted 2 hrs of my life I won't get back.

The female-led Ghostbusters is a fun, energetic, and underrated movie that brings a fresh take to the franchise. The cast has great chemistry, the humor lands well, and each character brings their own personality and strengths to the team. The movie doesn’t try to copy the original—it does its own thing while still respecting the Ghostbusters spirit. The action is colorful and exciting, the jokes are consistent, and the movie is just a good time from start to finish. It’s creative, confident, and clearly meant to be enjoyed rather than overanalyzed. Overall, it’s an absolute must-see: entertaining, funny, and way better than people give it credit for. 👻✨
