Martin Tsai Los Angeles Times "Ghoul" can't decide whether it should be about cannibals, serial killers, ghosts or demons. The found footage trivializes rather than reflects the horrific events that serve as the film's basis. Mar 19, 2015 Full Review Rob Staeger Village Voice Ghoul rewards attention for much of its running time with subtle scares and growing unease, before squandering it in a shaky chase through twisted corridors that goes nowhere unexpected. Mar 17, 2015 Full Review Swetha Ramakrishnan Firstpost There are several levels of horror at play in Ghoul, and this layered approach to an oft-misunderstood genre comes from a director who seems keenly aware. Oct 10, 2023 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts It went into a whole lot of just trying to please the audience and I wasn't really about it... but there were some really good subplots in this movie. Rated: 5/10 Apr 30, 2021 Full Review Adolfo C. Martinez La Nación (Argentina) Without leaving the horror formula behind, the director know how to dosify horror and suspense, delivering a very haunting ending. John H Great concept, starting with totally horrifying real-life events. The movie does really well in places before reverting to a pretty run-of-the-mill horror movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/01/24 Full Review Emilliano Jr S Its like a cheap Ukrainian Blair witch project. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/24 Full Review Liam D It has horror movie cliches and found footage cliches and it's does those to mediocre effect Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member If you enjoy The Blair Witch Project, As Above So Below and films like that you'll have a decent time with Ghoul. The scares dont happen for awhile but once the paranoia sets in and the crew gets stranded the film becomes a lot more fun. The ending has lots of shaky cam which ruins some of the creepy visuals and the movie takes too long for the good stuff to start happening. Definitely worth a watch if you need something new to view. As of now its included with Amazon Prime Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/05/20 Full Review Audience Member Nothing new in the horror's horizon.
