GIANT is the true story of Prince Naseem "Naz" Hamed's humble beginnings on the tough working class streets of Sheffield and his discovery by Brendan Ingle, himself a steel industry worker turned boxing trainer. Their unlikely partnership along with Naz's unorthodox style, cocky persona and sheer dominance in the ring propelled them to the top of boxing's elite and unprecedented levels of global superstardom, all in the face of the rampant Islamophobia and racism of 80's and 90's Britain.

It's an odd little film. Go to Full Review

It doesn’t all work. The boxing scenes are undercooked and the ending is rushed and ineffective. But there’s a gripping sadness here that lingers. Go to Full Review

The material throws in the towel long before the bathetic finale; the inevitable post-fadeout footage of the real Hamed in his dynamic prime is a hundred times more stirring than anything preceding it. Go to Full Review

Giant is funny, heartfelt and tremendously acted. In our opinion, it’s a knock-out. Go to Full Review

This is a thoroughly engrossing story, very well told, fuelled by the great chemistry between Brosnan and El-Masry. Go to Full Review

Leaburn O 14h Some of the acting is good but hammed up for the film. My problem is the rewriting of history. Everyone in boxing knows Brendan Ingle is a legend, put all his money into the Wincobank gym and effectively fathered generations of troubled kids. He turned several into World champs. The film tries to portray the talented Prince as equally wronged. Prince got greedy. Brendan made him from a nobody over 17 years of training and their contractual deal was befitting of 17 years effort. Only when the money got big did Naz and his family get greedy. Suddenly they wanted to renegotiate and look how his career suffered without proper guidance. Now Nas has a big house but lost respect from so many. Brendan’s other champs never badmouth him. They all respected him. This film is unbalanced by trying to make it a balanced story. It wasn’t balanced. Nas treated Brendan like dirt and to this day refuses to make a fulsome apology. That’s all we need to know about the man. Watched at Greenwich ODEON. See more Andre R @Arone 1d Not worth your time or money. Typical story Trainer or Coach (in this case Brendan) taking the credit for Naseem's natural G-d given talents and drive. Boxing is not a Team Sport. Naseem has been quoted numerous times.. "the loneliest place on earth... is in the ring".. and everyone is watching. Nassem has stated he is developing a film. I would save your money an wait for his film, his story! See more Dex D @Oneadaymovie 1d A powerful and emotionally grounded biopic, Giant tells the rise of boxer Naz while giving equal weight to the story of his trainer, Brendan Ingle. The film works as a compelling dual portrait of ambition, sacrifice, and mentorship. Ali Saleh and Amir El-Masry bring authentic energy to Naz’s journey, while Pierce Brosnan delivers a career-best performance filled with warmth and emotional depth. Even for non-boxing fans, the story remains gripping, uplifting, and deeply human. With strong character development and a moving emotional core, Giant proves that great performances and honest storytelling still pack a punch. Final Verdict: A heartfelt, inspiring sports biopic that lands every emotional blow. See more Dan G 2d An interesting story, Brosnan and El-Masry both give convincing performances but are let down by soap opera style dialogue and direction. The fight scenes are particularly flat and reflect the films mediocrity. See more Nabila B @Nabzbee 2d Went to watch as a preview and it did not disappoint. Great cast and story telling about the relationship between a boxer and his trainer who both came from humble backgrounds. See more Read all reviews
