GIANT is the true story of Prince Naseem "Naz" Hamed's humble beginnings on the tough working class streets of Sheffield and his discovery by Brendan Ingle, himself a steel industry worker turned boxing trainer. Their unlikely partnership along with Naz's unorthodox style, cocky persona and sheer dominance in the ring propelled them to the top of boxing's elite and unprecedented levels of global superstardom, all in the face of the rampant Islamophobia and racism of 80's and 90's Britain.

Despite good performances from El-Masry and Brosnan, this fails to pack the heavyweight knockout punch it sorely needs. Judge’s decision: a narrow loss, on points.  Go to Full Review

The core (largely true) story is just about strong enough to keep the film on its feet through all 12 rounds. A narrow victory on points. Go to Full Review

For a film about a fighter who was famous for his footwork, this is disappointingly plodding stuff. Go to Full Review

Giant is funny, heartfelt and tremendously acted. In our opinion, it’s a knock-out. Go to Full Review

Jacques V @Jacques116 2d Every now and then a sports movie comes along that reminds you why true stories hit harder than fiction. It steps into the ring with swagger, heart, and a powerful story about the rise of boxing superstar Prince Naseem "Naz" Hamed. Giant tells the story of British-Yemeni boxer Prince Naseem Hamed and his rise from a young fighter in Sheffield to one of the most electrifying personalities in boxing. Amir El-Masry delivers a fantastic portrayal of Prince Naseem. Pierce Brosnan brings warmth and depth to Brendan Ingle. His performance feels calm and authentic, grounding the story emotionally. The mentor-student dynamic between Ingle and Naz becomes the heart of the film. Giant carries a meaningful life lesson. At its core, the film reminds us that greatness rarely happens alone. Talent is important, but guidance, discipline, and the belief of a mentor can make all the difference. The film doesn’t just win the fight… it leaves the crowd cheering long after the final bell. 🥊 See more Les N @Vegas628 Mar 4 How much did Naseem Hamed contribute to this movie? Like everyone I had no idea that there was a disagreement between fighter and trainer, but just enjoyed Hamed fights. See more Mark H @allforfun Mar 3 terrible film, Mgm grand? Cardiff arms park all look like in same studio, terrible acting, terrible openents who were supposed to look like original boxers, Steve Robinson, Barrera, you having a laugh? biggest joje of a boxing film ive ever seen, Sly Stalone put his name to this? shocking film, really looking forward to this as well, my advice dont bother, wish i didnt. See more Ben K @Knibby84 Mar 3 Brosnan was superb as ingle. I thought the timeline jumped a bit too drastically without much information at times to where we were jumping too but a solid effort and a good Potrayal of their relationship. See more Andrew G @AndrewGreeny Jan 20 I was lucky enough to visit the gym quite regularly around those magical years, and this excellent film stirred so many emotions and old memories. I thought Brendan’s heart and soul, and his inspirational teachings and preachings, were faithfully portrayed, and the pride & loyalty of the two boys and most of all of Alma, was beautiful to see realised on the big screen. I’m so pleased that a somewhat balanced view of the split was achieved during that imagined final conversation between the two leading characters. Naz was truly a very special athlete and a unique personality, who from what I saw adored Brendan and all his friends in that amazing old gym! The reality was sadly such a familiar tale when money, glory and fame get involved, but that shouldn’t diminish the giant achievements of this special pair - and with this film they are deservedly immortalised. I LOVED it! 5/5 See more Azhar H @azhar460 Jan 19 I thought is was brilliant movie. Every acted brilliantly. 10 out of 10 for me. The actor copied prince style so well. Excellent. No sure if film was bit biased towards naz but over all excellent. See more Read all reviews
