Larushka Ivan-Zadeh metro.co.uk At once a breath of fresh air and nostalgically old skool, this toys with issues of race, class and gender but manages to wear its authenticity with an unusually light touch. Rated: 4/5 Sep 5, 2017 Full Review Vanessa Martinez Shadow and Act The duo's harmless, and ordinary thrill ride through the subway stations runs out of steam. Aug 14, 2017 Full Review Wesley Morris Grantland Amid all the copycatting and pricey bombast and genericness, here's a movie that looks like it hails from a real place; whose characters sound like they come from somewhere; whose stakes are stresslessly low. Jan 3, 2014 Full Review Ed Travis Hollywood Jesus Gimme The Loot is about genuine friendship. It succeeds in that area even if the execution could have been improved. Mar 31, 2020 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens Keeping in tune with the youthfulness of his characters, and the exuberant elan of the "ultimate crime", [Adam] Leon shoots with a casual looseness that mirrors the essence of youth. Nov 27, 2019 Full Review Jason Solomons The Mail on Sunday (UK) Director Adam Leon probes the offbeat corners and rhythms of New York life. In doing so, he also subtly captures the textures of its society, language and hidden economies in a sweetly optimistic street romance. Rated: 4/5 Oct 31, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This didn't work for me. Not my age group, not my scene. I was also not super happy that the movie began and ended with young black people shoplifting. So, black people steal is the message here, or is director/screenwriter Adam Leon just chalking it up to being wacky teenagers getting a thrill breaking the law and taking away more trust from the general public? The acting by the leads was fine. Zoe is fine, and lovely to look at. But the story line not so much. It ultimately didn't add up to much, imo. The late scene of them riding together was sweet and worked for me. But the overt use of 'that word' and another disdainful term just shows again how innocuous they are for a great many people, and I find it distracting, taking me out of the movie. 2 stars Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member "Gimme the Loot" may be a bit rough around the edges, but this one's a real gem. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member POORLY written script. Starts off solid, but then just seems so random and "street" talk so forced and BS, especially the female actress. Also I call BS on "representing" one of the pillars of hip hop, graffiti. BS actors representing something they don't understand or comprehend without living the life so they're performance of it reeks of FAKENESS like most Hollywood movies attempting to portray subcultures. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member It's like Godard and Spike Lee had a lovechild together. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member What makes this movie work - it could have put "based on a true story" and everyone would believe it. The acting, writing, even the camera work flaws add to a sense of realism other similar films try desperately to achieve. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Getting a window into a life i am completely unfamiliar with was one of the best parts of this very well crafted film. A hard luck day in the life story of two New York taggers who you spend equal time rooting and feeling bad for. Lots of unique characters from the bizarre to the unlikable populate this world. You realize half of the way though that the goal is not important its all about the journey though this tough but always interesting life.
