Michael O A fairly tale for adults. To enjoy this movie, you have to accept the world that it portrays as real. Once you do that, it is fantastic. I would have jumped off of that bridge for Vanessa Paradis as many times as I could. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/30/23 Full Review jordan m I liked this a lot more than most other French movies I've seen, though obviously not as much as Amelie. The black & white seemed like a gimmick and there were so many metaphors in the dialogue that it sailed past sophistication and landed in "nobody talks like that" territory, but the chemistry between the two leads was believable. The girl served the same purpose to the movie as she does to Auteuil's knife-throwing act and they wrapped the movie up really nicely at the end by coming full circle. This could easily have overstayed its welcome as a 2-hour slog, but at a brisk 90 minutes I quite enjoyed watching it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Just loved that movie. Beautiful well written story of luck, love and destiny. Vanessa Paradis is perfect for the part with a lot of texture, giving the character of Adele a range from sexy vamp to clumsy ingenue, sometimes candid, light and funny, other times almost neurotic and instable. Unltimately it's a feel good movie but not in the way you'd necessarily expect. There is a good life lesson to take from it too. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review andrey k Splendid movie. I would lie if I didn't say that I was enormously charmed and enchanted by the knife-throwing scenes with the accompaniment of the beautiful song 'Who Will Take My Dreams Away'. A very strong movie which elicits strong emotions and a pensive mood, but it's a good kind of mood. I was quite surprised that a movie shot in such a rapid succession of shots can create such a mood. Performances are high level, especially by Daniel Auteuil; the chemistry between him and Paradis is complete. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This tale of ill-fated love is pretty to look at, but was a bit slow at times, so proceed with caution. But you don't get a love story between a depressed young woman and a knife thrower either, so there's some novelties to be had here. Rental. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Awful soundtrack, Why are people making movies in Black and white? Vanessa Paradise is Beautiful. The story is not interesting enough for 90 minutes. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
