Gladiator 2 is a good time at the movies and that’s something of a lost art these days. Mescal’s turn is more vengeful than Crowe’s but the rage and physicality of the performance quickly cements his leading man status.

Production values and acting alone warrant a watch. The original was better as a stand alone film with real emotional stakes. That doesn’t diminish the quality or fun I had watching the sequel. Denzel Washington played a pitch perfect villain.
