Audience Member A lovely eulogy for a director taken from the world too soon in the senseless decimation of the AIDS epidemic, Glitterbug compresses Jarman's backstage life into an hour of sweet memories and contemplative music. That Jarman was able to craft a tribute to his band of social outcasts in his final stages of the disease is remarkable, his nostalgia for these moments and people permeating the entire film, coalescing into something moving and insightful to represent a person who touched the lives of so many voiceless individuals throughout his career. If only he'd been given an opportunity to continue producing his anti-establishment, anti-ignorance work; who knows what could've come of his golden years.
