Sugihara (Yôsuke Kubozuka) feels more like a misfit than most high school students, being the son of a Japanese mother (Shinobu Ôtake) and a North Korean father (Tsutomu Yamazaki). Changing schools does not help much, as he is simply taunted by a different group of kids. Fortunately, his father has given him boxing lessons to keep the bullies at bay. When Sugihara falls for the popular Sakurai (Kou Shibasaki) and she seems interested in him, he sees the possibility of being accepted.

Audience Member Go center around Sugihara, a Japanese teenager faced a lot of prejudices, because of his Korean decent. In search for his soul and identity, he meet a girl, Sakurai. He really afraid his background will destroy close relationship he has with Sakurai. Go is fact paced movie with dark humor that will catch you off guard. Overall the acting is good and valuable observation of how minorities treated in Japan. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Bizarre. You will never believe this movie is not Korean made. Though it is about being Korean in Japan, so . . . the movie is aimed at not a huge demographic in that respect. But... it's well done and it does connect emotionally. Some scenes I found unnecessary, but. . . . . I dunno.... kinda good. Like a much more serious My Sassy Girl . . . . a bit?

If this material is familiar to you, it will be the most important movie in your life. I love asian film but I'm just a Canadian so I'm far removed from it, but I recognize quality. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The hard life of a Zainichi (koreans born in Japan) its depicted in this movie. Race and racism are the principal matters of the film, with the personal journey of self recognition of the principal character. The movie shows how hard can be the life for foreigners that live in Japan and how racist could be the japanese society. Everyone had have the feeling of being a misfit but here the main character its a real one, that and the relationship with his father are some amazing things to enjoy this great movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member I was just shock, the ending of the movie is happy!! haha.. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member A powerful, impressive, energetic, vivid, funny, insightful movie about Zainichi (Koreans in Japan) & how the younger generation fight against the label given, taking off their lives from the pull of the huge social machine & deal with the scenario encounter. Yosuke Kubozuka is just awesome for his core, complicated character. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty good in the way of both story and performances. The performances are both impressive and refreshing. The story does take a little to get going but once it does you are thoroughly engaged. The racial themes really makes you think and wonder, and you wish for things to turn out well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
