Audience Member I grew up a Detroit Red Wings fan and even did a school report on this guy so... I thought it was pretty good. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review steve d The film can not find a way to tell an interesting story. It's sad but it's subject deserves so much better. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member It was OK, the story-line and all, but totally fake when showing the on-ice scenes... As for the performance of the actors, some of them had a hard time to even pretend that they can actually skate and what goes towards the equipment, for one, there were no plastic blade holders in 1950s... The uniforms featured fake team logos, but I guess that it was because NHL did not approve the use of actual ones... Too bad... Off-ice was far better... So, overall not too great, when I compare it (for example) with "The Rocket: Maurice Richard Story, but overall, I am thankful for any hockey-related movie... Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This sports biography is really good. Mark O'Brien, Kevin Pollak, Georgina Reilly, and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job in this movie. This true story about the legendary goaltender Terry Sawchuk was very dramatic. He went through some tough times during his childhood and career and that can put a lot of pressure on someone. But he managed to get through them and became a hockey legend in the process. I would definitely recommend this movie. It's a must see. Ignore what the most of the critics are saying about this movie. They have bad tastes in movies and they also can't see why this is a great movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie, wish they used the real nhl jerseys though Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Richard Didnt go because I booked the wrong day. Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times Dramatically speaking, despite its loftier ambitions, "Goalie" remains stuck in the neutral zone. Feb 6, 2020 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter The pic attempts to cover all the biographical bases of Sawchuk's life, to an exhaustive but ultimately superficial degree. Jan 29, 2020 Full Review Brad Wheeler Globe and Mail Director Maggs tells a tough, sympathetic story in an imaginative way that makes Goalie feel like a war story. Rated: 3.5/4 Mar 1, 2019 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Like all good sports movies Goalie isn't about scores or stats, it's about what drives the players to push themselves, to be warriors or be worthless. Rated: 3/5 Jan 31, 2021 Full Review Alex Saveliev Film Threat There's nothing terribly wrong with Goalie. It's well-structured, handsomely shot, and features some impressive acting. The thing is there's just not that much to make it stand out from the crowd either. Rated: 6/10 Feb 19, 2020 Full Review Lee Jutton Film Inquiry At the heart of Goalie is a tragic tale worth telling, but unfortunately the film, despite its best intentions, fails to do it justice.
