Joshua Meyer Slashfilm 03/03/2021
The concluding film, Godzilla: The Planet Eater, vindicates the trilogy in a way that manages to stay true to it while also being true to the franchise and what fans have come to expect when they sit down for a Godzilla movie. Go to Full Review

Godzilla: The Planet Eater is a worthy conclusion to an overall satisfying trilogy, although a different approach towards the action aspect would definitely benefit the film much. Go to Full Review

Godzilla: The Planet Eater is the finale of an unsatisfying and highly flawed trilogy. Go to Full Review

This is certainly the most complete of the three films, but it's also encouraging to see how it helps makes the previous two movies in the trilogy feel richer. Go to Full Review

Nov 16 Almost everything about this movie is perfect: The visuals, the music, the direction, the sound, the themes. Unfortunately, the one part that falls completely flat happens to be the most important part of a movie: the PLOT. The scientific yimmer yammer that plagued Planet of the Monsters makes an unwelcome return, particularly through one character who just wouldn’t shut up. As for the two main characters, instead of bringing them closer together to explore the movie’s themes, they split them up for almost the entire runtime. We watch Metphies summon Ghidorah with no reactions from Haruo, who is instead off banging a Houtua girl and talking about dying. Most of the "plot" consists of scattered philosophical statements. It feels more like a quote compilation than a movie. Once the climax begins, the movie pretends it’s been building up to a philosophical showdown between Metphies and Haruo, when in reality the two barely interacted throughout the whole movie. It’s really a shame, too, since the finale alone is damn near perfect. It just belongs at the end of a better movie. Overall, this movie is a work of art ruined by bad writing See more Vincent W @Gojirilla5419 Sep 21 Best of the trilogy, but still pretty bad. See more randomshjt 2. @randomshjt2727 Aug 21 I just despise this movie to my better core. I just think that this is the worst Godzilla film that we have gotten just so boring throughout the entire runtime Godzilla and ghidorah don’t do anything. It is just the most disappointing film in this entire trilogy. Thankfully we got a better Godzilla movie that year. See more Patrick M. @GoPredator Aug 13 I was hoping for a monster vs monster battle but again no fighting. It felt depressing with the main characters. But the only positive thing about the movie was the animation. See more Dimitris T 07/23/2024 As the story nears its end, gradually sinking into eldritch religious madness, it constructs some of the most compelling character narratives ever seen in the Godzilla franchise, including some intimate relationships between humans and monsters. The second film's themes of human arrogance explored through technology are followed by themes of existentialism, comfort and self-destruction explored through religion. See more Timmy S 06/29/2024 The ending was expected good but he’s turnout into kamikaze with Tani went alternative pessimistic, human characters are erratic could not help Godzilla fights Void Ghidorah as themselves. I was so overwhelmed deride. See more Read all reviews
