Although Godzilla doesn't really cut it in the special effects department, he does have a certain lumbering charm. So does the script. Go to Full Review

The overall tone of Godzilla vs. Gigan skews a little more childish than usual. It has the same sugar-buzz 9-year-old-boy energy that makes the series so appealing, but it seems a little less focused. Go to Full Review

Among the most efficient and exciting of the series since the 1954 original. Go to Full Review

This one takes awhile to get going, but as payoff you get Godzilla and Anguiras fighting new enemy Gigan and Ghidorah on one of the series' most unique battlefields: a Godzilla-themed amusement park. Go to Full Review

For a film that's awfully busy and awfully manic, it turns out to be quite a dreadful slog. Go to Full Review

A substantial improvement over its predecessor, Godzilla vs. the smog monster (1971), this twelfth Godzilla movie is typically silly but features a rousing, extended monster battle to save the Earth from evil aliens. Go to Full Review

Vincent W @Gojirilla5419 Sep 21 Its sequel is better See more Khaliel P Aug 19 Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972) marks a return to a more mainstream but low-budget formula, recycling stock footage and music while leaning on the familiar mix of aliens, King Ghidorah, and a new monster. The plot is thin and often illogical—complete with a Godzilla-shaped laser tower and a battered costume—but the film earns cult status for introducing the fan-favorite Gigan and for giving Anguirus a stronger role as Godzilla’s ally. Messy, kitschy, yet oddly entertaining, it captures both the worst excesses and the quirky charm of the franchise’s 1970s era. A top 10 entry for sure in the Godzilla franchise. Tim Treakle See more Justin T 06/03/2024 This has become my second favourite Godzilla movie so far after Destroy All Monsters (1968). There is a lot of city smashing and it goes on for ages which is great. There are also lots of monster fights and we get an awesome new space monster called Gigan! Some of the shots/scenes are repeated from previous films which is a shame but doesn’t detract too much. Some people might not even notice. The non-monster scenes have a story and it’s engaging. The music is normal, not too crazy. Apart from the stock footage my only gripes are that they didn’t give the aliens a cool name like Xiliens or The Kilaaks and we got translations when Godzilla and Anguirus were talking to each other.
