Scott Meek Time Out Although Godzilla doesn't really cut it in the special effects department, he does have a certain lumbering charm. So does the script. May 24, 2019 Full Review Witney Seibold Nerdist The overall tone of Godzilla vs. Gigan skews a little more childish than usual. It has the same sugar-buzz 9-year-old-boy energy that makes the series so appealing, but it seems a little less focused. May 24, 2019 Full Review Rob Humanick Projection Booth Among the most efficient and exciting of the series since the 1954 original. Rated: B+ May 24, 2019 Full Review Bob Chipman Escapist Magazine This one takes awhile to get going, but as payoff you get Godzilla and Anguiras fighting new enemy Gigan and Ghidorah on one of the series' most unique battlefields: a Godzilla-themed amusement park. May 23, 2019 Full Review Tim Brayton Antagony & Ecstasy For a film that's awfully busy and awfully manic, it turns out to be quite a dreadful slog. Rated: 4/10 Feb 1, 2014 Full Review TV Guide Staff TV Guide A substantial improvement over its predecessor, Godzilla vs. the smog monster (1971), this twelfth Godzilla movie is typically silly but features a rousing, extended monster battle to save the Earth from evil aliens. Audience Member This is peak showa era Godzilla! Is the action is great! Is the practical effects are near perfect, And the pyrotechnics are Spot on! And also Is debuse godzilla's most interesting foe, gigan, Is the robotic chicken with a buzzsaw in its chest! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review Horror fan 4 A very good story with terrific fight scenes. A top 10 entry for sure in the Godzilla franchise. Tim Treakle Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/28/24 Full Review Justin T This has become my second favourite Godzilla movie so far after Destroy All Monsters (1968). There is a lot of city smashing and it goes on for ages which is great. There are also lots of monster fights and we get an awesome new space monster called Gigan! Some of the shots/scenes are repeated from previous films which is a shame but doesn’t detract too much. Some people might not even notice. The non-monster scenes have a story and it’s engaging. The music is normal, not too crazy. Apart from the stock footage my only gripes are that they didn’t give the aliens a cool name like Xiliens or The Kilaaks and we got translations when Godzilla and Anguirus were talking to each other. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/03/24 Full Review Rich A I watch this once a year usually takes me two to three months to watch my favorite movies this is one of them! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/23/24 Full Review Taylor W Okay okay, I know this one is bad… but it's the first one I saw and… sigh… i know every line in the dubbed version, yet I still watch it at least once a year Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Chanr3y k What else do you expect from a '70s Godzilla movie? It's cheesey, its tedious, it's cheap, Godzilla's suit is falling apart in this movie, and the characters are boring. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Read all reviews
